StH: An Alternate World

Chapter 1

Eggman paced around in his lab in thought. His robots watched him as he contemplated. "Surely. . . There has to be a way to stop Sonic. . . Once and for all. . . "

Orbot and Cubot looked at each other in thought. Eggman stopped in front of his computer, looking at the screen for ideas.

There was a recording of Sonic and the group hanging out within Green Hill Zone. Tails stood by Sonic's side, and the group all laughed. Eggman hummed and rubbed his chin. Suddenly an idea clicked. "Of course! I'll get rid of him!"

The robot duo blinked and looked at each other again. Eggman laughed, the idea anusing to him. "It's perfect! And I know just how to do it!"

Sonic napped atop a branch in a tree with his arms crossed behind his head and his legs crossed. Tails floated him, fiddling with a gadget. Amy was having a picnic with Cream, and Team Dark was off on their own, just talking.

Cream giggled, Cheese the Chao floating by her side. "It's such a beautiful day, Ms. Amy!"

"Yeah, you're right, Cream," Amy smiled.

Tails nodded. "And it's the perfect day to test out my new gadget!"

"What does it do, Mister Tails?" Cream asked as Tails landed on the ground.

Sonic continued to nap as Tails explained. His ear twitched, and Sonic glanced up at it. He heard something. A clatter and a clank. It started off faint, until it got loud enough the others heard it too.

Everyone went silent and looked around to find the sorce of the noise, till a yelp came from the tree.

Sonic fell to the ground, encased in a blue bubble sparking with electricity. The hedghog growled and tried to spin dash out of it, but to no avail.

A familiar laugh came from behind them. Cream gasped in fear behind Amy as she took out her hammer. Tails turned around and growled.

"Eggman!" Sonic spat.

Eggman flew in inside his egg-carrier. He had a canon of sorts that was crackling with electricity. Sonic assumed that's what trapped him. "Why, hello, ya blue rodent!"

"Let Sonic go right now!" Amy screamed, clutching her hammer tightly.

"Oh, don't worry," said the doctor. "I'll let him go. But be warned, you may never see him again!"

Tails growled, but instead of pursuing, he looked at Sonic, then at his backpack. The Chaos Emeralds! As Amy lunged at Eggman in fury, Tails made a dash for the bag with the emeralds inside.

One of the enemy bots saw and grabbed Tails by the tails. Shadow saw what he was trying to do and spindashed the bot. "Get the emeralds to Sonic!"

Tails nodded and grabbed the bag, and rushed over to the bubble was in. Sonic smiled at his buddy's quick thing.

Amy smashed the robots that were blocking her way to Eggman. The doctor chuckled darkly until he saw Tails. "Oh no, you don't!" He growled. He slammed the button on his dash, and the Canon fired at Sonic and Tails in front of him. Tails gasped and held up the bag of the Chaos Emeralds before he could get them out.

"No!" Everyone screamed, thinking Tails and Sonic were done for. Eggman laughed like a manic, thinking he won.

But suddenly, Tails's bag started to glow. A shield formed around Tails as the glowing emeralds flew out of the bag and in a circular motion. Everyone shelled their eyes at first, but gasped in aw once they finally saw what was happened. Tails's eyes went wide as he was slowly lifted off the ground as the emerald swarmed around him.

"Tails, what's happening!?!" Sonic crier.

"I don't know!" The fox cried back. "I think Eggman's machine reacted to the Chaos Emeralds somehow!"

Eggman stared in frustration. This wasn't supposed to happen.

The emeralds flew brighter, and so did Tails. There was soon a hissing noise and pain shot through Tails like lightning. He screamed and that was the lasting everyone heard before an explosive of light.

Everything shleided their eyes from the bright light, and it stayed their for a good ten minutes. Once it finally went away, what remained was a burt spot on the ground where Tails had stood, and said fox was nowhere to be seen.

"TAILS!" Everyone cried. Even Eggman was surprised.

"Wha- I- I wasn't expecting that. . . " He muttered before sliding down back into his seat. Then he shrugged. "Oh well, I wasn't exactly expecting to expect something, so I guess it doesn't count."

"What did you do to Tails!?!" Sonic screamed in anger.

"For your information, hedgehog, that blast was for you, not him! And secondly, it wasn't supposed to mix with the emeralds, so who knows what happened!"

Cream was shaking in fear. "Oh, I hope Mister Tails is okay!"

Sonic shook his head and huffed. "He better be, Robotnik! Otherwise, I'll do a lot more than just beat you!"

Eggman's eyes went wide. "Well, someone is mad, aren't we?" He smirked.

Sonic growled, his fists tightened with anger.

"Sonic, calm down!" Amy cried. "We'll figure this all out!"

Sonic looked away and crossed his arms as the bubble around him finally fizzled out, freeing him.

Eggman hummed. "Well, I supposed I'll leave you all alone for now, because now I have to come up with a plan B." 

Sonic growled at him as he flew away, taking his robots, damaged and undamaged, away.

Tails continued to scream as he fell. A whirlwind of colors, mainly pink, surrounded him. The Chaos Emerals continued to surround him as he fell through this strange void.

Tails didn't know what was happening,  all he knew was that he was in pain. It felt like he was being ripped apart and put back together again. His ears twitched like crazy, beginning to glitch and fade. His face glitched too, from his normal one to more human like and back. He didn't know this, of course; he didn't know what was happening.

Tails didn't know what to think anymore, nor did he have time to, before he collided with the ground.
