Chapter 7: "Something Old, Something New"

Mephone4 tried getting rest, but it was pointless. He was still shocked up from earlier in the day. It was only 2:40PM, and he was tired but energized at the same time. Regardless of his state, he got up and tried to find the phone he saw earlier. He wasn't surprised when the phone was gone. They're probably still with Cobs.

Once he realized this, he sprinted past his office and stopped when he was in-front of the closet door. He was in somewhere similar before, but the room he was in wasn't locked. Mephone4 had to think for a while before guessing a code he saw Cobs enter a few years back. It hurt thinking of the old memories, but it was worth it if he could save someone. Once he opened the door, he saw the same static-y glitching he saw when he first ran into them; the first time his curiosity got the best of him, but now he knew more. He almost felt bad for them, analyzing the cracks on their screen and the wall. He slowly approached them, trying to come off friendly.

The other phone suddenly turned on, breathing heavily before looking up at Mephone4. They held their one arm up to their 'head' and looked like they were in pain. "..Hello? It's me again, from earlier."
There was no response, it was quiet for a moment until the other spoke up.
"T-The one from a-a few years back?" Their screen glitched, making them stutter.
"Yeah, and the one from today." He didn't want to scare them from the last time they saw them. The phone leaned on the shelf next to them while Mephone4 explained.
"Oh. Have you come to save m-me?"
"From Cobs? Yeah—" They were interrupted by the glitching of the other phone. Shoot, I really can't mention him, huh? Imagine how he felt when he was surrounded by the others...
Mephone4 tried calming the other down, he wasn't good at it but at least he tried instead of running away (like last time). Eventually, the other had calmed down, but they still looked visibly stressed.
"Come on, let's go."

They walked over to the port of the building; the other object leaned on him for support, although he didn't really need it.
"Are you ready?" The other nodded and Mephone4 said one last thing:

"RUN!"

They both darted for the door, occasionally pushing others out of the way. The other phone was frightened and clung to Mephone4. They both ran for the closet ship available.

Mephone4 closed the door but paused when he saw the console. He looked back at the other one, confused.
"Do you know what any of this means?"

They didn't answer, they seemed to be thinking about something.
