CHAPTER 7 THE BOND

The next morning, the sunlight filters through the tall windows of the castle as Emma, Jungkook, and their Gryffindor classmates make their way to their first class of the day. The hallways are buzzing with students, excited chatter filling the air as they discuss their lessons and share stories from the summer.

As Emma enters the classroom for Defense Against the Dark Arts, she feels a mixture of anticipation and nerves. The room is large and lined with shelves of magical artifacts, the air humming with the energy of past duels and enchanted spells. She takes a seat next to Jungkook, while Jimin sits a few rows ahead, glancing back at her every now and then, though there's a noticeable distance between them.

Professor Aberforth, a stern but kind wizard with graying hair and a long beard, stands at the front of the room. He's known for his practical teaching methods and has a reputation for throwing students straight into the action.

Professor Aberforth:
"Good morning, everyone. Today, we'll be working on counter-curses and shielding spells—essential skills for any witch or wizard. Let's see how well you can defend yourselves."

Emma looks over at Jungkook, who gives her a playful nudge.

Jungkook:
"Ready to kick some magical butt?"

Emma laughs, the tension from her conversation with Jimin easing a little.

Emma:
"Only if you're ready to keep up!"

The professor wastes no time and calls the class to attention, pairing students off for their practice duels. Emma is paired with Jungkook, while Jimin watches from across the room, partnered with another student.

As they raise their wands, the air between Emma and Jungkook is filled with playful competitiveness.

Professor Aberforth:
"Remember, focus on your shield charm! You'll need it when your opponent counters."

Emma takes a deep breath, her wand steady in her hand. She watches as Jungkook prepares to cast his first spell, a playful smirk on his face.

Jungkook:
"Let's see what you've got, Gryffindor star."

Emma grins back at him, her heart racing with excitement.

Emma:
"Don't underestimate me, Jungkook!"

Jungkook quickly casts a stunning spell, a light blue flash shooting from his wand. Emma's reflexes kick in, and she raises her wand, shouting the incantation.

Emma:
"Protego!"

A shimmering, golden shield erupts in front of her just in time, deflecting Jungkook's spell with a loud crack. The energy of the spell dissipates, and Jungkook gives her an impressed look.

Jungkook:
"Not bad at all."

Emma shrugs, playfully cocky.

Emma:
"I told you I could keep up."

They continue trading spells back and forth, each testing the other's reflexes and skills. The room is filled with flashes of light as students practice their duels, Professor Aberforth moving through the crowd, offering advice and correcting techniques.

At one point, Jungkook manages to land a disarming spell, causing Emma's wand to fly from her hand. She gasps, but quickly recovers by dodging out of the way of his next attack. As she retrieves her wand, she catches sight of Jimin watching from across the room, his expression unreadable. There's a flicker of something in his eyes—something she can't quite place.
