The Good Man's Blood Path

CHAPTER 1

    2024, Kurt, now 17 years old, has grown into a tall and handsome young man with falling hair, a prominent nose, long eyelashes, and brown eyes. Although he possesses a sharp intellect, he is unaware that his heart has overshadowed his prized intelligence, leading him to his current situation. As he lies in bed, contemplating his final plan, his mind gradually drifts into sleep.
  2015, Kurt was just eight years old, he lived with his parents in their modest home.      

   Despite their struggles, the family was happy. Kurt’s household included his mother and father, and he also had a younger brother named Ken. Ken, who was four years old, was kind and affectionate, bringing joy to Kurt and their parents. The love and delight Kurt felt for his brother were evident, and their parents were equally pleased with the bond between the siblings.

   Near their school, close to their home, stood a large mango tree that served as their favorite hangout and play area. Every afternoon, the siblings would visit the schoolyard to play and pass the time beneath the mango tree, discovering new games and enjoying their simple life. The tree became a central part of their childhood memories and happiness.

  Kurt’s father owned a small plot of land, just enough to grow sweet potatoes for their daily consumption. Whenever there was a surplus of sweet potatoes, Kurt would sell them to their neighbors to earn some money for other family needs. Despite their limited resources, the family’s life was filled with love and mutual support, which gave them the strength to continue facing each day.

   Kurt is a nine-year-old boy who works even on his birthday. Despite the lack of a celebration or special treats, he remains cheerful and understanding. "It’s not just on my birthday that I don’t have a feast," Kurt says with a sense of acceptance. He is aware that his parents cannot afford to prepare a party or special food for him.

  After selling out of sweet potatoes early, Kurt is able to head home sooner than usual. As he runs home with the bucket he used for selling, he accidentally bumps into Josee, a girl of the same age who is a student at school. Josee is known for her gentle, loving, polite, and kind nature. The collision causes Josee to fall and scrape her elbow, while Kurt ends up sitting on the ground. Shocked, Kurt watches as Josee quickly approaches him and apologizes for the accident. Taken aback by her kindness.

   Kurt stands up and offers his own apology. The two of them make eye contact, and instead of feeling upset or crying, they start to laugh together, finding joy in their unexpected meeting.The two introduced themselves and had a brief conversation because Josee was about to return to school.They said their goodbyes happily, and after their chat, Kurt headed home immediately.
   As he walked, he couldn’t help but think about the young Josee. Though their time together had been short, it was not enough for Kurt to get to know Josee well. He was eager to learn more about her, as aside from his younger sibling, he didn’t have any other children to talk to or play with. He was curious about where Josee lived, who her family was, and whether they were kind.
