In the living room of the Jiang residence, Jiang Yuan Cen glanced at his daughter and sighed helplessly.
His daughter, raised with such purity and kindness, had no understanding of the dangers lurking in people's hearts.
Though he couldn't bear to scold her, he also couldn't ignore what he saw. He spoke with heartfelt concern, "You've just recovered from your illness, yet here you are walking around barefoot in the house. If you get sick again, you'll be the one who suffers."
Jiang Ting Yu stuck out her tongue playfully, "I know, Dad. I promise I won't do it again."
Jiang Yuan Cen gently tapped her forehead, his voice indulgent, "You, always making us worry."
Jiang Ting Yu clung to his arm, her voice sweet, "You're the best, Daddy."
Jiang Yuan Cen could only give in to her charms.
"Dad, did you resolve the matter with the Xie family?" Jiang Ting Yu raised her face to ask.
It was the one thing she was most concerned about—it affected whether she would end up in an arranged marriage with the Xie family.
Jiang Yuan Cen furrowed his brows, patting her hand. "Don't worry, Mianmian. Your dad will take care of it."
Jiang Ting Yu obediently nodded and didn't press for more details.
If her father said this, it meant the arranged marriage was a tricky issue, not something easily handled.

After returning to her room and locking the door, Jiang Ting Yu called her friend. The phone rang a few times before being picked up.
"Mianmian, I've found the person you wanted me to investigate."
The voice on the other end was brisk and clear, with the crispness characteristic of a woman.
It was Cheng Jianyi, her childhood friend.
Though also from a prominent family in Jingbei, Cheng Jianyi's life was completely different from Jiang Ting Yu's.
Her mother died when she was young, and her father remarried when she was six, bringing a stepmother into the family. After that, they had a son, and everyone doted on the younger brother, leaving her feeling neglected and unnecessary in her own home.
After graduating, Cheng Jianyi moved out and started supporting herself.
Walking around, Jiang Ting Yu spoke, "Yi Yi, I saw the information you sent. Are you sure the man from that day was Xie Yun Nan?"
"Though the surveillance footage was lost, there's a record of him booking the private room, so it's definitely him," Cheng Jianyi said confidently. She had even used her family's resources to find this out—without them, she wouldn't have been able to uncover anything.
Jiang Ting Yu asked, "Why did Xie Yun Nan hit someone?"
The man didn't seem like someone easily provoked; there must have been some reason for the altercation.
"That, I couldn't find out," Cheng Jianyi admitted. "But from what I've heard, Xie Yun Nan caused a lot of trouble while studying in the UK. It could've been some conflict that set him off."
In truth, Xie Yun Nan had done far more than just causing trouble—his actions were despicable. But she didn't want to taint Mianmian's ears with such filth.
"Mianmian, what do you plan to do?" Cheng Jianyi asked, wondering how her friend would handle Xie Yun Nan. If it were up to her, she'd just tie him up and beat him until her anger was satisfied.
