Well, I thought I would make this a series of sorts as it would help you understand and learn in depth.
1. Amara asks for a rock slate or copper plate because;
The use of palm leaves is dated back to the 5th century BCE. But since Mahabharat takes place way before it, I refer to the use of rock slate and copper plate.
1.1 Rock has always been used by people to write and inscribe. It dates back to even cave men.
1.2 Copper plates have been used as printing devices since Harappan civilization.
1.3 I feel like palm leaves weren't in trend at the period because Mahabharat was orally transmitted for a long time before it was written down in palm leaf by Ved Vyasa.
2. Orange dye, surprisingly, was used in that era and so were jewelleries made out of emeralds.
3. There is a Tamil folktale about Duryodhan which is actually wholesome.
One evening, Duryodhan has some duty to attend so he requests Karna, his friend, to entertain Bhanumati, his wife, for the evening and leaves.
Bhanumati and Karna play a game of chess in which the Princess is about to lose.
She sees Duryodhan at the door and rises to greet him. But Karna misunderstands and assumes that she is leaving because she doesn't want to lose.
So he grabs her shawl and in doing so, her pearl ornament scatters.
Karna then follows her stunned gaze and sees his friend at the doorstep. He rises with shame, awaiting the punishment for his indecency while Bhanumati is afraid of what her husband would assume of this act.Duryodhan just looks at them carefully and says to his wife,
"Should I just help you collect the bead or would you like me to string it, as well?" And he quietly goes to pick the beads from the floor.
This story is always told to showcase his great love for his wife and also his immense trust in his friend.
And I just thought it was very much in character for Duryodhan to be like that.
4. Duryodhan gives Amara a surname - Paracha,
Paracha is actually a Hindu origin caste name and the people of this caste are native of Gandhara region in real life.
5. Amara sees a deer because that animal is the symbol of regeneration.
That's all for now,
🧡
