Growing Up

1: A Small Island

On a small island there lives a little eight year old girl who has no home and no family well to her the island home and there is one person that watched her on the island.

They're name was Rose, Rose were friends with her parents and the girls parents traveled a lot. They named the girl Maya, Maya is a mix of both Black and Spanish her father is black and her mother Spanish.

Maya's parents are entrepreneurs they love to travel and go on vacations. They usually had someone babysit Maya who at time was one years old. They went on lots of business trips and vacations while someone took care of Maya.

This time though they decided it would be good to bring their daughter with them on a vacation just the three of them. Maya's father chose for them to go to Australia and visit Dangar island the mother wasn't sure about it at first but in the end she eventually agrees.

While they were there they met a woman who told them that her name was Rose and she grew pretty much grew up in Australia and loves to visit Dangar Island when she wasn't working.

Maya's dad asked her what she meant when said that she pretty much grew up in Australia? Rose told him that her family is from Texas and she was sent to Australia at the age of six to attend a boarding school.

Maya's parents and Rose became fast friends and Maya grew attached to Rose and Rose quickly grew attached to Maya. You would have thought Maya was Roses adopted child with how attached Maya was to her.

It turns out that Rose is a travel agent and she took off from her job for a while wanted to return to Australia and hang out with some old friends.

Maya's parent notice how attached Maya is Rose so on their last day they went up to Rose "Rose can we talk to you?" Maya's dad asked her. Rose said sure and followed them while Maya is playing on the floor. They stepped out the door but still hear Maya, Rose looks at them "what is it?"

They looked to each other then to Rose, Maya's mom spoke up this time "um, we are really busy people and we sadly can't be there to watch our little girl grow" she told Rose.

Rose scrunched her eyebrows together "what are you going with this?" Rose asked glancing back and forth to them.

"We want you to take care of Maya for us" Maya's father said to Rose. Rose was surprised to here this "what?" she asked.

Maya's parents tells Rose how they feel about raising Maya and they wished they could but they are always busy. They repeated how much they love Maya and she deserves someone better than them and they think Rose is that person that can take care of her at least until she's old enough to take care of herself.

Rose promised them that she'll take care of Maya as long as she can. Maya's parent got ready to leave and asked Rose to tell Maya that they love her.

Maya never seen her parents again after that day.
