Throughout history, humans blamed the woman who ate the Forbidden Fruit that cast the humans out of Eden, to be fair they also blamed the Devil which gave him a bad rep even though he had done it for the good of all. Since then mankind has struggled through hardships as punishment for their disobedience.  Religion was off and on, mortals were more concerned with getting ahead in life rather than the value of their souls, and societies rose and crumbled with the changing of leaders and beliefs.  Around 1900, when cities started entering the industrial age, New Orleans was a popular city that was more advanced in technology, and culture rising to attract tourists and a place where gangs ran their businesses.

There was the middle class versus the lower class, people without proper education left to work in food service or serving richer families to earn a living any way they could, a young woman by the name of Abigail, a cajun woman with no family to call her own working for a rich man who was a New Orleans Councilmember.  What turned out to be a harmless cleaning job at his estate led to something more as the man propositioned her, promising her money to take care of her affairs.  Without much say, the woman gave in which resulted in her becoming pregnant, when her Boss found out he gave her money to get rid of the child, the job was enough to get by but the way the man treated her wasn't something she wanted to deal with and so Abigail quit and lived in the slums near the bayou to give birth and raise her child.

"Look at you, my beautiful bundle of joy... yes that's it, there you go my son~"  Abigail held a beautiful boy of mixed heritage, she knew he would struggle because of the color of his skin but she wanted to do good by her boy.

"And what is the child's name?"

"His name is Alastor... Alastor... O'Quinn," she wanted to give him his own last name, neither hers nor the man that had used her for his pleasure, she would protect her boy to the best of her ability.  Abigail raised her son on her own, many judged her for having a child out of wedlock not to mention his mixed skin and hair color, but aside from all that, Alastor was a precious boy who enjoyed playing outside as well as playing with all the critters of the bayou.  He was fearless, brave, cunning and he had a goal, he wanted to be someone important so he could take care of his Mother.  She was the only thing that mattered to him, unfortunately when he turned twelve something happened when a tall white man came to their home, arriving in a black car in a neighborhood of run-down homes and dirt roads.

"Get in the house sweetie,"

"But Mother!"  Abigail pushed her son back as the man came near, he wasn't threatening at the moment but she feared for her son knowing full well this man had wanted her to get rid of the babe.  Alastor stayed put where the gentleman dressed in fancy clothes gazed upon the young boy, his skin complexion was a bit off-putting but his auburn locks matched his own.

"I see you kept the child, well that's good, I was afraid I'd come out here for nothing."

"What do you want, Ruber?"

"Now, Miss Abigail is that any way to talk to your old flame?  I thought we had something special."  The man moved to wrap an arm around her form to pull her close, his other hand coming to caress her dark skin, hair done up in curls as she was forced to look up at him, Ruber had emerald green eyes just like Alastor.  Their auburn hair matched but Ruber was a white man while Alastor had a mix of cajun from his mother, it didn't take him long to figure out that this rich fancy man was probably his Father.

"You knew very well what we had was nothing short of you having your way with the help, now I don't know what you're doing down here on this side of town but surely it's not a social call."

"Hmm right you are, I'm actually here on business and-"

"Take your hands off my Mother this instant!"  Alastor stepped forward raising his little fists in the air while stomping his foot, Abigail tried to step in front of her son while Ruber laughed to see the spirit in the boy trying to defend his mother.
