Sirius felt his own panic build up in his chest when he didn't find his godson at that Bitch's house. Lily would never had wanted her son to live with that woman but it just made it harder for Sirius to find him. He had to warn Harry some how. Protect him at all costs. From Surry England to Hogmed Scotland was a long journey. Food was far better than Azkaban but harder to get. Sirius ignored food most days and even some water.
When he saw Hogwarts for the first time in nearly twelve years, Sirius cried. His how was low and mournful to the moon. Staggering to the water's edge Sirius collapsed. It was a silent night, with little to no breeze. Warm in the way summer always was. Taking the few sips of water, stomach protesting, Sirius fell into an uneasy sleep.
He was awoken by something nudging at his side. Slitting his eyes open Sirius saw a red brown wolf looking down at him. It spoke volumes at how uncaring he was of the beast. He couldn't even muster the energy to be worried. The wolf nudged him again with a whine. Sirius let out a slow breath as his eyes started to drift shut again. A sharp pain radiated up his back side causing Sirius to let out a tired whine. With a thoughtful look, the wolf looked at him to the lake and then to the woods behind them. Another nudge and the wolf trotted back into the wooded area. Leaving Sirius to his slumber.
It felt as if moments later, he was being awoken again by a nudge to his side. This time when Sirius breathed in, the smell of blood and iron wafted into his nose. Pulling more strength than he had, Sirius looked over to the sent. The wolf had brought back a pig. Well a magical boar it looked like. It had four horns, a soft think black pelt, and was the size of a small horse. Sirius whined as he tried and failed to push himself to his feet.
The wolf have his ear a soft nibble before going over to the boar and tiring off pieces, bringing them over to Sirius. Sirius chewed on the pieces with vigor as he ground them to paste. It was so good that he never wanted to stop but after only the few pieces, his stomach was protesting. With a more contented sigh, sleep claimed Sirius once again. It wasn't long while later when the wolf nudged at him again, laying a few strips of meat down for him to eat.
It went on over and over again until Sirius could get up and get his own meat and drink from the water of the Lake. The wolf stayed with him the whole time. Sirius didn't understand if this is what normal wolves did or if this could be a magical wolf. It seemed like a magical wolf. It took a bit but Sirius could finally walk around without the need for his new friend to help support him.
The boar didn't last as long as Sirius thought it would. The wolf ate most of it in the matter of the few weeks. It was beginning to cool down at summer turned to fall. Sirius spent most of his days with the wolf leaning how to hunt. It was clear from how the Wolf hunted that it was a magical beast. It was taking down full grown boars by itself.
Sirius stared up at the castile Halloween night, thinking how all of the students were down in the great hall. The rat would be all alone up in the common room. Taking a few steps towards the school, the wolf jumped up to block his path. Sirius halted his path completely. The wolf hadn't show any hostility until that point. Now with lip curled up to show fangs, Sirius thought instantly that he'd done something wrong. Dropping to his belly, Sirius let out a confused whine back to the wolf.
After a moment, Sirius stood up, tail tucked and head low. Creeping up to the Wolf, Sirius wiggled his snout into the wolf's side. Letting out a long stressed breath. Sirius need to get that rat. It was a danger to his godson. It wasn't time yet. With another breath, Sirius turned back into the woods, heading for the dug out den under a cluster of roots. The wolf following at his heel.
Remus watched from the head table during the Halloween feast at Harry Potter. The boy looked very little like James at that age. James didn't come into his inheritance at school. He didn't even know the Potters had a magical inheritance. It was James's twenty first birthday when Lily was floo calling Remus in a panic. James had started screaming and thrashing at two in the morning.
Harry resembled James after that night. Skin a tad too dark to be called tan. Long black silk like hair that was braided back. James opted out of earrings but Harry looked to be shining with them. It showed off his pointed ears that much better. With a laugh, Remus caught the sight of sharp fangs. James would be proud. Remus smiled.
"Not much like your ring leader is he?" Severus sneered to Remus.
Remus only hummed, "Not while James was this young. I wonder why Harry went through his inheritance this young. Minerva?"
"You knew about this?" Severus pressed.
Minerva sighed, "He came into it after claiming his titles. The magic was a shock to his system it looks like."
Remus hummed with doubt. It wouldn't be unless Harry had been blocked from his magic in anyway. A very bad thing indeed, "And yes, Severus, I did know about this. James came into his on his twenty first birthday."
"So late?" The sneer fell from his voice as the promise of interest crept in, "I've never heard of one so late."
"Neither had I." Remus agreed, "We searched high and low since he couldn't get tested right then. It was a few months later that they both passed."
Severus took in a small unsteady breath, "How did Lily take the change?"
Remus winced, "Not well. She was in hysterics. She refused to be married to someone with an inheritance. Kept going on how it was only Death Eaters had them. They were working on divorce papers when they were killed. James was banned to the couch and was looking after Harry fully on his own at that point. She kept telling James to cut his hair, glamor his ears, and never show his teeth."
Minerva was shocked, "She didn't."
"She did." Remus answered.
"How did Harry survive that night then?" Severus asked hastily, "There had to be another reason then if Lily never loved Harry."
"I don't know." Remus watch as Harry's eyes seemed to glow, "I might have a guess but it would be so ground braking, it'd probably shake up our whole world."
Leaving them in eerie silence, Remus got up and exited the hall. He had a lot of other things to worry about then why Harry survived that night. Starting with his own Mate, Sirius Black.
Deep in the woods off the coast of Scotland, a wrath had one last crazy idea. The Goblins would do anything for the right price. They had old and ancient magic that could bring any wizard's magic tricks to shame. All he had to do was make it to Diagon Alley.
With new plans in mind and a goal to reach, the wrath moved south, towords his new salvation.
