With the destruction of the mana cannon, Elfrieden had won a significant victory, but the war was far from over. The Principality of Amidonia was reeling from the blow, yet Grand Duke Gaius was not a man easily deterred. Even as his fortress lay in ruins, he was already planning his next move, one that would test the resolve of the Kingdom of Elfrieden and its new leadership.

Royal Palace: Preparing for the Next Move

Augustus stood before a gathering of his advisors in the war room. The atmosphere was tense but filled with a sense of achievement. Maps, reports, and tactical diagrams lay scattered across the table.

"We've struck a critical blow against Amidonia," Augustus began, "but we must remain vigilant. They will regroup, and they will retaliate. We cannot afford to be complacent."

Duke Carmine, his face stern and focused, nodded in agreement. "Amidonia is like a cornered beast now. Desperate and dangerous. They will lash out with whatever they have left."

Liscia leaned forward, her brow furrowed. "Our scouts report that Amidonia's forces are pulling back to their strongholds, but they're also sending emissaries to neighboring states, seeking new alliances and reinforcements. They're trying to build a coalition against us."

Count Marx added, "They may be hoping to turn our recent victory into a rallying cry for their allies. We need to counter their narrative and make sure our neighbors see the truth—that we acted in defense and are open to peace."

Augustus nodded thoughtfully. "Exactly. We must double our diplomatic efforts and make it clear that we want peace but are prepared to defend ourselves against any aggressor. Our emissaries must continue to reach out to the Union of Eastern Nations, the Republic of Turgis, and the Mercenary State Zem."

Liscia spoke up, "The Union of Eastern Nations remains divided. Some of their leaders are leaning towards neutrality, but others are still undecided. We need to convince them that siding with Amidonia will only bring them into a war they cannot win."

Augustus considered her words. "Agreed. We'll also need to focus on strengthening our defenses. Our borders must be fortified further, and our forces ready to move at a moment's notice."

Duke Carmine grinned. "You're thinking of a preemptive strike again, aren't you?"

Augustus shook his head. "Not this time. Amidonia expects us to attack again. Instead, we'll let them make the next move. We'll use that opportunity to turn the tables on them."

Liscia smiled. "A trap, then?"

Augustus nodded. "Precisely. We'll lure them into a situation where they think they have the upper hand, then we'll strike at their weakest point."

Count Marx looked cautious. "And what if they see through the ruse?"

Augustus smiled. "Then we adapt. Flexibility will be our greatest weapon. Now, let's get to work."

Meanwhile: Amidonia's War Council

In the capital of Amidonia, Grand Duke Gaius sat in his war chamber, surrounded by his generals and advisors. His face was a mask of fury, but his voice was cold and measured.

"We've underestimated them," he growled. "This Augustus is more formidable than I thought. He's cunning, and his tactics are unorthodox. But he has made one mistake."

One of his generals, a grizzled veteran named General Magnus, nodded. "He's growing too confident. He thinks he can outmaneuver us at every turn. We should use that against him."

Gaius leaned forward, his eyes glinting with malice. "Indeed. We'll feed him false information, make him believe that we are planning another direct assault. Meanwhile, we prepare for something far more devastating."
