Jacaerys strode restlessly through the ancient halls of Dragonstone, his mind consumed with frustration and impatience. He longed to ride to Harrenhal and confront Daemon, to march to King's Landing and vanquish the Greens in their lofty towers, or to simply flee to any remote corner of the realm. However, a sense of duty and responsibility kept him tethered to the island fortress.
Finally, arriving back at his chambers, he closed the heavy wooden door behind him with a resounding thud. With a deep breath, he unburdened himself of his sword, carefully laying it aside. As he let out a heavy sigh, his gaze fell upon a sight that brought a moment of respite to his troubled mind.
Y/n sat comfortably in bed, leaning against the headboard. Her long hair was intricately braided and wrapped around her head, with stockings pulled high up her legs. She wore a cozy nightie that hugged her belly, which was visibly swollen. As she immersed herself in a book, she rested it gently on her protruding belly while engrossed in her reading.
Jacaerys found it impossible not to smile, "How is it you look so perfect?" He asked, as he came over resting a hand on her cheek and pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, "I could devour you, you look so sweet and succulent."
Y/n giggled and put her book away,
Jacaerys eagerly climbed into the bed with her, "How is he?"
"Kicking away," she smiled, "But he's calm down now he knows his daddy's here,"
"Awww... He missed me?" he cooed stroking her bump, "I missed you too sweet boy," He leaned down, feeling the soft curve of her bump, and tenderly placed a gentle kiss on her belly. Resting his head against her, he closed his eyes and listened to the rhythmic movements and gentle kicks of their unborn baby, feeling a deep sense of connection and love.
Y/n smiled and stroked her hand through his dark curls, "Have you had any more thoughts?"
"Humm... Well, there are a lot of nice family names." he cooed, "Or we could have something all our own, it's whatever my wife wants."
"Well, maybe we should have another little Jacaerys," She cooed,
"Perhaps," He chuckled, "But I don't mind what we name the baby,"
"Alright, we have plenty of time to think," she smiled,
"We do, come here my darling." He cooed as he kissed her bump one more time and then he leaned up to give her lips a soft tender kiss. "And how are you? Everyone asks all days about the babe, yet no one attends to you," he cooed,
"I am fine Jacaerys, I feel perfect,"
He nodded, "That is good news." He smiled, "Now come here, let me cuddle my wife all night tonight,"
"Of course, you can," she chuckled,
Jacaerys concluded yet another unproductive council meeting, feeling the weight of frustration settled upon his shoulders. As he made his way back to his chambers, he found respite in the thought of holding Y/n close, her gentle presence easing his worries. Upon entering his chambers, he closed the door behind him and carefully set down his sword, expecting to find comfort in the warmth of his surroundings. However, as the door latched shut, an unsettling chill crept down his spine, he knew something was wrong.
The chambers exuded a chilling darkness, devoid of any comforting flicker of firelight. A sharp, metallic tang hung in the air, adding to the oppressive atmosphere. From the depths of the chamber, faint but haunting cries reached his ears, causing a shiver to run down his spine. His heart plummeted to his feet, a wave of sorrow threatening to overwhelm him as tears welled in his eyes. Desperately, he held on to a glimmer of hope, silently pleading to the powers that be that this nightmare wasn't real, that his worst fears were not coming true. However, each passing moment only deepened his dread, painting a darker picture of the situation.
He hesitantly approached the door to their bathroom, feeling an inexplicable sense of dread. Although he resisted, his feet seemed to move of their own accord. With a deep breath, he pushed the door open, and a shiver ran down his spine as he beheld the horrifying scene that greeted him.
Y/n knelt hunched over on the cold stone floor, her nightie pulled up around her waist, her hair falling from her braids, tears streaking down her face, blood coating her legs, and hands, blood spilt out all over the floor. She was shaking and trembling as she tried to clean the blood with her hands.
"Y/n..." He gasped as tears trickled down his cheeks,
"Baby... baby...Our baby..." she muttered between tears,
"Y/n please," Jacaerys went over and fell to his knees beside her,
"Our baby... our poor baby..." she cried hystiericly,
"I know Y/n, I know." he cried, "Our poor baby..."
As she lay on the floor, tears streaming down her face, she couldn't stop the screams of anguish and despair from escaping her lips. It felt like an eternity, but Jacaerys held her tightly in his arms, his own tears mixing with hers as they both grappled with the overwhelming grief of their loss.
Jacaerys gently lifted her into his arms, cradling her close as he carried her to the soft, welcoming embrace of the bed. With tender care, he cleansed her wounds and ensured her comfort, adjusting the pillows and blankets until she was at ease. Anxiously, he summoned the Maester to attend to her, never straying from her side, his unwavering presence a silent promise of steadfast devotion.Y/n was fine but the baby was lost. As he watched her silently weep against the soft, white pillows of their bed, he couldn't help but feel a heavy weight in his heart. After the Maester had left the room, Jacaerys tenderly climbed into bed beside her, wrapping his arms around her waist and gently pressing his lips to her shoulder, offering silent comfort in the midst of her tears.
"It's okay... it's okay..."
"Our poor baby..."
"I know, I know. It's okay."
"This is the fourth time..." she whined,
"I know, it's okay." he nodded,
"Are you-"
"No, I'm not angry, I promise you I'm not angry." he cooed, "It's not your fault Y/n,"
"What... what if I can't..."
Silence hummed between them for a moment,
"Don't worry about things like that-"
"But what if I can't. This is our fourth little baby... and I never even got to hold a single one."
"I know, I'm so sorry my love." he softly cried, "It's okay, no matter what I still love you."
"We have to have a baby... you are your mother's heir... heir to the throne we-"
"I have siblings, We do not have to have children if you do not want to. If it hurts you. If you don't want to try again we don't have to." he cooed kissing her softly on the cheek, "But don't think about all that now... just rest. And I'll be here with you for as long as you need me."
"Thank you, Jace..."
"You're welcome Y/n, I love you so much."
"I love you too," she sniffled,
"Just rest, I'll be by your side every moment you need me."
