The full moon glittered outside the dark grey tom's cave. It was supposed to be the gathering tonight but due to the flooding, his clan was unable to get to the gathering. He sighed, wondering what the other clans were going through.
"Olivestar!"
The voice of his loyal deputy and brother jerked Olivestar out of his thoughts. He turned around and saw his deputy and medicine cat at the entrance of his cave.
"Come in!" he called out to them. They both sat next to Olivestar, gazing at the full moon.
The pale brown tom murmured, "Thank Starclan the rain stopped!"
"Indeed, Lightspring. We're lucky that we're all safe." Olivestar mewed.
"The last time we had a flood like this was five moons ago." the yellowish she-cat replied, still admiring the full moon, deep in thought. "If only Redsong's still with us."
All three of them fell into silence. Redsong was their sister who died in the last flood, washed away by the strong current while trying to save one of Olivestar's kit. However, the kit didn't make it either.
Olivestar couldn't bear the silence anymore. He growled at his medicine cat, "Leafblossom, did you have to bring her up?"
"Why shouldn't I bring her up? I miss her." the she-cat replied calmly. "She can now hunt freely, watching over us from Starclan."
The tom sighed. They all miss her but Leafblossom was right, she is safe in Starclan now.
"Let's not let this ruin the moment. We haven't spent much time together since you became leader." Lightspring meowed.
The three of them sat there in silence for a while. Suddenly, a star shot across the sky. Olivestar could feel his sister trembling.
"It's a prophecy. 'From the mist a dragon and flower arise, with power strong enough to destroy and save the Clans. They will meet in battle and the fate of the clans lies in their paws.' " Leafblossom meowed shakily.
Olivestar tipped his head and muttered, "A dragon? A flower? With powers strong enough to destroy the clans? Then that means there will be battles in the future! May Starclan protect us all when the time comes ..."
Lightspring rested his tail on Olivestar and meowed, "Let's just hope it won't be worse than The Great Battle. It's leafbare right now and surely we don't want the clan to starve to death? We shouldn't mention this to our clan or the other clans. Let's just focus on our duties right now, but keep a lookout for more signs Leafblossom." Leafblossom dipped her head in agreement.
After his littermates had left him, Olivestar couldn't fall asleep, the prophecy troubled him. Mist must refer to Mistclan, but what does it mean? He thought and sent a silent prayer. Starclan, only you can save us now.
