MAYA SCOTT, sat on the bleachers in the school gym, wearing a mini Raven cheerleader uniform that Brooke Davis had helped her make. The uniform had a short skirt and a tight top with the letter 'R' for Ravens, with pair of mini pom-poms in her hands.

Next to her, was her father, Dan Scott, she watched as her older brother, Nathan, and his teammates warmed up on the court. Maya opened her book, "Matilda," and started reading, bored by the pre-game routine.

"Nathan. Remember. 20 shots-no less," Dan told his son, his voice stern.

"Got it, dad," Nathan replied, dismissing his father's instructions. Maya couldn't help but chuckle slightly at her brother's response.

"Quit yakking and warm up," Coach Durham barked at the team, and the players quickly returned to their drills.

Maya continued reading her book, lost in the world of Matilda and her magical powers. She was grateful for the distraction, as the gym was filled with the sounds of squeaking sneakers and the bouncing of the basketball.

NATHAN SCOTT, was on dominating the court with skills. As he scored another basket, the crowd erupted in cheers, chanting his name. Coach Durham was ecstatic, urging the team to keep up the momentum.

Tim Smith quickly passed the ball to Nathan, who wasted no time in sinking another shot. The score was now 17-0 in favor of the Ravens, and Nathan had already scored 14 points.

Meanwhile, Maya sat quietly in the stands, her eyes glued to the book in her hands. Her father, Dan, couldn't help but notice her lack of enthusiasm for the game. He gently took the book from her hands, saying, "Maya, stop reading this and focus on the game. This could be you one day."

Maya hesitated for a moment, then replied, "Yes, daddy," as Dan grabbed the pom-poms from her side and threw them in her face. She cheered enthusiastically for her brother.

The game continued, with Nathan leading the Ravens to a dominant victory. As the final buzzer sounded, the team celebrated their hard-earned win, knowing that they had given it their all.

AFTER THE GAME, Maya waited outside for her brother's girlfriend, Peyton Sewyer. The cool evening breeze ruffled her hair as she stood there, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Hey, mini Scott. You waiting for your brother?" Peyton asked, her voice laced with amusement.

Maya shook her head, "No, I told Dad that I'm going with Nathan... but Nathan is with the team."

"So you lied?" Peyton asked, her eyebrows raised, a playful smile on her lips.

Maya giggled, "Comeon-- mini. let's go," Peyton said, holding out her hand for Maya to grab as they headed to her car

"Can we get something to eat? I'm starving". Maya asked Peyton who nodded.

PEYTON AND MAYA, were in the car, listening to their favorite tunes as Peyton drove Maya home. The music filled the air, creating a comfortable atmosphere between the two friends.

Peyton, however, wasn't entirely focused on the road. She was searching for something in the car, her eyes darting from the dashboard to the passenger seat. Maya, noticing Peyton's distraction, yelled out, "Peyton, focus on the road!"

Peyton looked up for a brief moment, but before she could react, Maya screamed her name, "Peyton, watch out!"

Peyton immediately slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a screeching halt. In front of them, a figure in a grey hoodie was crossing the street. Peyton's heart raced as the figure pulled down the hood, revealing a familiar face - Lucas Scott, Maya's half-brother.

Maya gasped, her eyes widening in surprise. Lucas glanced at Peyton, then at Maya, who offered him an awkward smile. He didn't know if that was a genuine smile or a mock to him.

Peyton made a hand gesture, silently urging Lucas to move out of their way. The gesture seemed to snap him out of his trance, and he turned and walked away, disappearing into the night.

Maya watched as Lucas retreated, her mind racing with a mix of emotions.

Why does he hate me so much? Maya thought to herself...

NATHAN WALKED, into Maya's bedroom, a warm smile spreading across his face as he sat down on her bed. He gazed down at his younger sister, who was still nestled under the covers, wearing his old basketball jersey.

"Hey, flower," he said, gently shaking her. "You need to get up!"

Maya groaned, but Nathan's laughter soon filled the room.

"If you get up, I'll take you out for pancakes," he promised, and that was all it took to get Maya out of bed.

"I knew that would get you up," Nathan chuckled, watching as his sister's eyes lit up with excitement.

"I'm expecting those pancakes," Maya said, a playful glint in her eyes.

"After I do my workout, alright?" Nathan replied, and Maya held out her pinky.

"You promise?" she asked, and Nathan couldn't help but smile at her innocence. Without hesitation, he linked his pinky with hers.

"I promise" he said, and Maya responded by wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug.

"Yay! I'll meet you down there," she exclaimed, already bounding out of the room.

"Dress warm, jeans and a sweater," Nathan called after her, a hint of seriousness in his voice. "No Brooke outfits today, okay?"

He knew Brooke had a tendency to dress Maya in outfits that were a bit too mature for her age, and Nathan wanted to protect his little sister from any unwanted attention. "Maya smiled and hugged her brother. "Can I at least wear one of the tops?" she asked Nathan, her older brother, who had been tasked with approving her choice.

Nathan let out a sigh, knowing that this was a battle he was unlikely to win. "With a cardigan, alright?" he conceded, his tone slightly resigned "I'll meet you downstairs" he said, closing her bedroom door.
