MAYA WALKED INTO THE KITCHEN, with her father and older brother, as she enters before her father and brother, seeing her mother.. Maya squeals sprinting to hug her "mom" she squealed excitingly
"Hey honey" her mother spins her around she turns to her husband her her oldest "hey. Check it out. Its called dinner" Maya grins at her mother, excited that she's back
"Who is that lady? Is that my wife?" Dan asks "I didn't think you were getting back until Monday"
"I wasn't. Until I sweet talked Ziodex into doubling their 'Gift to AIDS' research. It took me all of one meeting"
"Wow, Impressed. You sure you don't want quit saving the world and come sell cars with me?" Dan asks his wife
"Mmm, thanks but I like the frequent flyer miles" Maya's mother Deb stated to Dan, walking over to hug her oldest "hey. How's my boy?"
"I have warm ups, mom"
"Oh, come on, sit. Dinners almost ready and I haven't seen you in weeks"
"I can't. I got to go. Font wait up" Nathan tells them
"Nathan. Remember what I told you. He can't shoot if he doesn't have the ball" Nathan leaves, Maya pouts..
Deb turns to her youngest "and how's my baby girl, going?"
Maya was about to speak, but gets interpreted by her father "She hasn't been very productive with her time." He states, Maya looks down
"Dan" Deb says giving him a look, shaking her head "I'm asking, Maya.. Honey.. how are you?" Dan rolls his eyes, and leaves them alone..
Maya looks down.. "hey.. mommy's here! The last time we spoke you set yourself a goal.. 23 books? How many you up too?"
Maya smiles at her mother "16!" She said smiling "I'm reading Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory"
"16 books in a week! Oh honey that's great, I say that's pretty productive to me" Maya smiles at her mother's words "how long till you finish Wonka?"
"Probably in the next few days?"
"Well, how about after you read it, we can watch the movie?" Maya squeals at the thought of that
"There's a movie?" She asks, Deb nods smiling at her youngest daughter.. "how about you help me with dinner, we eat.. and we can watch it" Maya hugs her mother Deb returns the hug smiling
━━━━━━━━━ 𑁍 WHILE MAYA WAITS FOR HER BROTHER, she mimics the dance and cheers Brooke and Peyton were doing during the game. Dan scolded her to stop and now cheering is not something he wants his daughter to do, which made Maya feel trapped.
She loved, basketball she did.. but she didn't want to be like her brother and be a superstar basketballer in high school, she wanted to be a cheerleader like Brooke and Peyton.
Nathan comes out, having his arms open knowing Maya would be waiting for him.
"What's up dad?" He says, gripping his arms around, Maya's waist.
"Nice game, sweetie" their mother Deb smiles at her son..
"Try telling that to dad" Nathan as he began walking over to Lucas.. "Two decent games in a row, man. Getting better or just lucky?" Lucas doesn't answer, Maya grips her shirt.
"Don't be mean" Maya, Lucas smiles at her sweetness and Nathan pokes her to stop talking "Team's for a party tonight. My parent's beach house?"
"Why are you telling me that?" Lucas asks "Because... I said the team didn't I? Look it's kind of the off season. Might as well deal with it" Nathan says walking off with Maya, maybe jumps off Nathan
"Was my ears deceiving me, or did you just be nice to our half brother?"
"Don't call him that.." she nods and walks away, Nathan calls her name out "May..." She turns around and looks up at him
"Will you be okay? By yourself.." Maya nods and smiles at her brothers question, but he knew she wasn't going to be.. There father was just going to drill her and use her as Nathan's replacement.. he saw right through that smile of hers "I'd take you with me, but.. it's not that kind of party.."
"That's okay.. " she walks off upset, he grabs her arm and hugs her "hey, you, me and Peyton will go get pancakes.. in the morning okay?"
"Okay.."
"And... No sneaking out while I'm gone." He told her with a slight smile and serious tone, he nods and runs up to her mother
"Where's Nathan?" Her mother Deb asked "Gone with the team celebrating their win, I think he said burgers or something?" Maya smiled at her mom.. hoping she believed the lie to had told her..she couldn't tell her mother that Nathan was having a party at the beach house.. "can we go get burgers too? But elsewhere I don't have any to embarrass Nathan"
"And we don't want that, do we?" Maya shakes her head laughing..
━━━━━━━━━ 𑁍 LATER THAT NIGHT - All Maya could hear was her parents yelling at each other back and forth and all Maya wanted to do was read her book in peace...
So that's where she went.. her peace! Sneaking out the window to the river court
━━━━━━━━━ 𑁍 MAYA CLIMBS HER WINDOW... Hoping her parents won't waiting up for her, because... She snuck out - luckily they didn't. I guess so they were consumed in their own fight and world they didn't even check to see if their own daughter was okay?
Maya, jumps into her bed, just as she was about to close her eyes the door opens, and a big thump on her bed, she turns aund... And sees her older brother Nathan..
"Wake up, wake up..." he urged. "I brought ice cream... do you want some?"
She smiled and sat up. "Okay, I have a secret, but you can't tell anyone!"
"I almost kissed Haley tonight!" Maya squealed at her brother's revelation. "Maya, my ears..." he protested. She quickly apologized.
"I think I like her, May... and I know I shouldn't," Nathan confessed.
