A heart under scrutiny
Eyes soft as they look at me
A boy that makes me believe
I won't always have to leaveHe's not sunshine
He's the dew after it sets
He's not perfect
He's the sweetest collection of flaws I've ever metThey count him low on the scale
But the scale fails to define his worth
Even the the prettiest stars could look like dust
When you're only looking at them from the surface of the EarthIf I could slip him away
Far from where the wise matter
I'd sit him close to me
Collect all his scraped pieces one after another
Kiss every single one of it
To glue them back on him all together
I'd hold him so tight in my arms
So they'd never fall again for worse and for betterI'd give him my heart if I had it in me
I'd kiss him deeply if that made his scar heal
But oh my precious boy won't word what he feels
Like I'm to blame for not carrying what he needsI hope he finds the place inside of me
That goes deeper than any friendship and beyond lovers
Hope he understands I don't have my heart with me to give
But I'd be by his side and protect his forever
