Entangled Fates :

Being a superhero definitely sucked sometimes. It wasn’t the late nights or the exhaustion—it was the frustrating cycle of teaching the same criminals the same lessons over and over. Minjeong, better known to the public as Spider-Man, sat perched on the rooftop, the cool breeze of the night air rustling through her suit. The city was unusually quiet tonight, the soft hum of cars below providing a soothing rhythm to her otherwise restless thoughts. She scanned the skyline, looking for the faintest sign of trouble.

Her life as Spider-Man wasn’t glamorous as people imagined. Sure, swinging between buildings and stopping criminals felt exhilarating at times, but tonight was one of those nights where it felt like a thankless, endless task. Still, it was her responsibility. Her duty.

Just as she was about to move to a different part of the city, a voice broke the silence, smooth and teasing.

"Good evening, Spider-Man."

Minjeong's muscles tensed at the sound. She didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. That voice belonged to none other than Catwoman—Jimin.

"Now's not the right time, Jimin," Minjeong replied, her tone sharper than intended. She continued to keep her gaze on the city, refusing to acknowledge the figure now prowling toward her. There was a tension in the air whenever Jimin was around, an electric charge that Minjeong wished she could ignore, but always failed to.

Jimin's soft chuckle filled the quiet night as she moved closer, her boots barely making a sound against the rooftop. "Oh, darling," she purred, her voice dripping with mischief, "it's always the right time for you and me to meet."

Minjeong bit the inside of her cheek, trying to focus on anything but the slow, deliberate footsteps of Jimin coming toward her. The city was still. Too still. Or maybe her senses were betraying her, clouded by the familiar warmth creeping into her chest.

Jimin sidled up beside her, leaning in just enough for Minjeong to catch the faint scent of perfume—sultry and intoxicating. "Let’s be honest," Jimin whispered, her voice almost a taunt, "you missed me."

Minjeong’s pulse quickened as Jimin’s lips curled into a smile, her lithe form brushing lightly against Minjeong’s. The soft leather of Jimin’s suit pressed against her side, teasing.

"Didn’t you, Spidey?" Jimin asked, her lips dangerously close to Minjeong’s ear.

"No," Minjeong lied, her voice strained, the word caught in her throat.

Jimin leaned back slightly, letting out a mock sigh. "I hate liars, you know that." She tilted her head, her dark eyes gleaming in the moonlight, locking onto Minjeong’s with an intensity that made her breath hitch. "And you know what happens to liars, don’t you?" Jimin’s smile deepened, her voice dropping to a whisper. "They get punished, Spidey."

"Jimin," Minjeong said, finally meeting her gaze. She hated how her name sounded so vulnerable on her lips, as if Jimin had some power over her. She did. Minjeong hated it, yet couldn’t seem to break free of it.

Jimin stepped closer, their bodies nearly touching now. "Relax," she said softly, her gloved hand brushing against Minjeong’s shoulder, trailing down the arm of her suit. "I just came to wish you good luck. That’s all."

Minjeong didn’t respond, her breath held as Jimin’s fingers found the edge of her mask. Slowly, teasingly, she lifted it just enough to expose Minjeong’s face.

"Handsome as always," Jimin murmured, her fingertips tracing the curve of Minjeong’s jawline, sending a shiver down her spine. The soft touch was a stark contrast to the tension building between them, an unspoken desire hovering just beneath the surface.

Minjeong tried to maintain her composure, but every inch of her felt like it was on fire. Her heart raced, the world narrowing down to the small space between them, to the feel of Jimin’s breath against her skin.

Jimin’s thumb grazed Minjeong’s lips before leaning in. "Good luck, baby," she whispered just before pressing her lips to Minjeong’s.

The kiss was slow, deliberate. Passion simmered between them, held back by the fragile tension that always seemed to exist in their interactions. Minjeong’s hands, previously hanging limply at her sides, clenched into fists as she struggled with the overwhelming desire to pull Jimin closer. The kiss deepened for just a moment, the weight of their unspoken feelings pressing heavily between them.

When Jimin finally pulled away, her fingers lingered on Minjeong’s lips for a second longer before she gently pulled the mask back down over her face, hiding the flushed cheeks and conflicted expression beneath it. "There we go," she said with a smirk, stepping back, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Good luck out there, Spider-Man. Try not to miss me too much."

Minjeong watched Jimin slip back into the shadows with the grace of a predator, her heart still pounding in her chest. She couldn’t understand it—why she could never say no to Jimin, why did she let Catwoman pull her into this game every time. It was maddening.

As she watched Jimin disappear into the darkness, Minjeong leaned back, sighing. She was supposed to be the hero here, but every time Jimin was around, it felt like she was the one being played.

"Dammit," she muttered under her breath. No matter how hard she tried, she could never seem to untangle herself from Catwoman’s web.
