On the way back, I didn't utter a word. I was so lost in my thoughts that I "forgot" I had a tongue.
We arrived in front of the driveway, and the biggest surprise was finding a car parked there... The car.
I hurried to the front door while he got out of the car and ran to me.
"What part of 'leave me alone' don't you understand?" I snapped, realizing I didn't have my keys."You need to listen to me," he tried, reaching for my hands, but I shattered the moment he was trying to create; I wouldn't fall for it again.
"I don't think I will. And for the last time, leave me alone. JD," I gestured for Damon to throw me the keys, and he did.
"Yeah, you should leave her alone," my brother said with a mock frown while I focused on opening the door.
"Damon," Elena sang as a reprimand.
"Yeah, um, you might want to listen to her, or rather, listen to us..."
I spun around and looked them up and down.
"What are you hiding from me?" There was something off."I'm scared to tell her," JD confessed.
"And you're telling me? She's my sister of eighteen years, I should be afraid of her,"
"Elena, could you explain?" I demanded, fed up with all the nonsense.
No one decided to speak, so I raised my hands to the sky, making it clear that it was indeed time to talk. The only problem was that I had the keys in my hand, specifically the tip of the house key pointed at Damon. I didn't do it on purpose but...
"Okay, maybe you should give me those," he intervened, then whispered to Elena, "I don't know how she might react, and the keys could be dangerous in her hands."
"Are you serious?" I asked, shocked.
"Alright. It was all a setup," JD said quickly. "Please don't hit me," he added hastily, covering his face.
"What?!" I spat out, exasperated. "So, you... And I shouldn't hit you? I should kill you!"
"Yes, it was a good idea to take the keys from her," Damon said softly to Damon.
"You knew too?!"
"I found out tonight at the ball when you were dancing with Klaus. Damon told me at that very moment,"
"And why all this nonsense? I want something sensible because I swear if—"
"We didn't want either of us to be with Klaus. So today, I secretly took your phone, noted down the number, and called him to ask if he was invited to the ball,"
"So, I told him yes, and that I didn't know you were invited too, since you didn't tell me anything," JJ continued.
"Then I explained about Elijah's plan, to distract Klaus while he would be away for a while. But the idea of you and Klaus alone didn't sit well with either of us."
"So I called my cousin and... Well, the rest you know."
Me, seriously? I didn't even know what to say. I would have liked to see them both dead. So it was all a performance! A setup to keep me from dancing with the damned original hybrid. Could they be so stupid and childish?
"So it was your cousin?" I asked, pretending my nerves had passed.
"Yes," he smiled as he approached, and that was exactly the moment to act.
"And why the hell didn't you tell me!" I began slapping him on the chest.
"Damn," I concluded with a punch that pushed him back several inches.I saw Damon laughing, but when he saw my murderous look, he stopped instantly. It was better that way because, knowing he was a vampire, I would have skewered him with a metal rod.
