AUTHOR'S POV
Next morning Ruhaanika woke up with a sore body , she remembered what happened last night , she felt disgusting and stood up to take a bath but as soon as she stood up she felt a sharp pain on her abdomen, she instantly sat on the bad but she gathered some courage and stood up as she knew if she will get late than her mother-in-law will surely taunt her .
She went and took a shower and wore a saree she doesn't have many only 6-7 saree so she wore a saree and went to wake up rajveer .
( Her saree )
" suniye uth jaiye aap office ke liye late ho jange " she said to rajveer and he woke up
" don't show your face in the morning it self my day will be bad just wake me up everyday and go " he said with a slight of anger in his voice and went to the bathroom making Ruhaanika sad and hurt .
She then went downstairs and made breakfast , she was setting breakfast on the table when her mother-in-law came , ruhaanika went to her and touched her feet and as usual her mother-in-law did not give her blessings.
After Rajveer came she served them , as the breakfast was done Rajveer stood up to go , ruhaanika handed him his luch box . she then cleaned the whole house while her mother-in-law watching television.
Soon it was evening , Ruhaanika stood in the kitchen, the warm aroma of dal and rice filling the small space. The rhythmic sound of the pressure cooker echoed her solitude, a stark contrast to the chaos that often consumed her life. She had learned to find solace in cooking, each stir of the ladle a quiet rebellion against the stifling atmosphere of her home.
As she set the table, her heart sank at the familiar sound of footsteps approaching. Rajveer, entered the kitchen with an expression that instantly set her on edge.
"What did you make?" he asked, his tone flat.
"Dal and rice," she replied softly, avoiding his gaze.
His face twisted with frustration. "Dal and rice again? I wanted paneer! Are you incapable of understanding anything I say?" The familiar anger in his voice made her stomach churn. She braced herself for the inevitable confrontation.
"You see, she's going out of hand!" her mother-in-law chimed in from the doorway, her voice dripping with disdain. "I told you, Rajveer, she doesn't respect this household. You need to teach her a lesson!"
Ruhaanika's heart raced. She had seen this play out before: the manipulation, the lies that twisted her husband's perception of her. Yet, she remained silent, the words she wanted to say caught in her throat.
"Why can't you just do one simple thing?" Rajveer continued, his hands balling into fists. "You know how much I hate this! I work all day, and this is how you repay me?"
With a swift motion, he grabbed her hair, pulling her toward their bedroom. The pain shot through her scalp, but she tried not to cry out. Each step felt like a betrayal to her dignity, yet she couldn't muster the strength to resist.
Inside the room, the walls seemed to close in around her. She stood before him, trembling, knowing that no matter how many times she endured this, it never got easier. "I'm sorry," she whispered, though she didn't know what for. In that moment, it felt like the only words that could save her.
"Sorry isn't enough! kya karu mai tuhare sorry ka " he yelled, shoving her back onto the bed. The anger in his eyes was a reflection of all the hatred she had endured. " You need to learn your place. bohot bolna seekh gayi ho na , aapne man mai jo aata vo karne lagi ho " Rajveer said and slapped her hard , he then removed his belt , now Ruhaanika knows what is going to happen
" Sorry please , belt se mat mareye " she said with pleading eyes , but rajveer ignored her and started hitting her , she was screaming, crying , pleading to stop but he didn't listen to any of her pleading , after some time he stopped and went outside for few minutes .
Ruhaanika stared at the ceiling, tears pooling in her eyes. She felt like a ghost in her own life, invisible yet painfully aware of every insult, every bruise. She thought of her mother, who had always told her to be strong, to endure, but now that strength felt like a curse.
As Rajveer paced the room, muttering under his breath, Ruhaanika's thoughts wandered to the future. Was this all she was destined for? To be the silent victim of a broken family?
