"I'VE JUST been to your office, Lupin," Snape hissed quietly, eyes narrowed in on the two men; he barely spared a glance towards us. "You forgot to take your potion tonight, so I took a gobletful along. And very lucky I did... lucky for me, I mean. Lying on your desk was a certain map. One glance at it told me all I needed to know. I saw you running along this passageway and out of sight. Oh... vengeance is sweet, I hoped I'd be the one to catch you..."

"Severus," Lupin attempted first, before he got the wand pointed at him too, and he backed away slightly.

"I've told Dumbledore again and again that you're helping your old friend Black into the castle, Lupin," Snape spat, "and now, here's the proof."

"Brilliant, Snape," Black scoffed, raising his eyebrows, "once again you've put your keen and penetrating mind to the task, and as usual come to the wrong conclusion. Now if you'll excuse us — Remus and I have some unfinished business to attend to—"

Snape cut him off, by pressing his wand dangerously against the convict's dirty throat, "Give me a reason... I beg you."

"Severus, don't be a fool—" Lupin stepped forwards with a pained expression.

"He can't help it, it's a habit by now," Black remarked almost jovially.

"Sirius be quiet—!"

"Be quiet yourself, Remus—!"

"Look at you too, quarrelling like an old married couple," Snape drawled, as Lupin turned around in frustration, running a hand through his hair.

"Why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set," Sirius hissed, once again earning a wand against his skin.

"I could do it you know," Snape muttered, "but why deny the dementors? They're so longing to see you. Do I detect a flicker of fear? Ah, yes, a dementor's kiss, one can only imagine what that must be like to endure. It's said to be nearly unbearable to witness but I'll do my best..."

"Severus, please—" Lupin tried again, and Snape shot him a dirty look.

"After you!" Snape gestured to the doorway with his wand to Black, and then jerked his head at us, to tell us to scram, I suppose.

Except Harry and Ron raised their wands, and shouted in unison, "Expelliarmus!" which sent Snape flying into the four poster bed, which collapsed under his weight.

"Harry! Ron!" Hermione looked as beside herself as me, "You attacked a teacher!"

"I want to go home," I gasped out weakly, shutting my eyes.

"Tell me," Harry demanded, pointing his wand, "tell me about Peter Pettigrew."

Lupin paused, as he straightened himself up, before he then nodded carefully. "It's time we offered you some proof — Ron, please, give me the rat."

Ron protested. It was something you would've expected from him, since it was his pet, but by this point, everyone else in the room was far too impatient that this had gone on for so long, and we all wanted to see if this rat was actually a grown man. "You're insane!" he sputtered, "There are millions of rats, how do you know Pettigrew is my Scabbers?"

"You know, Sirius, that's a fair question," Lupin volunteered, turning to Black and frowning slightly. "How did you find out where he was?"

Black stubbornly ripped a scrap of paper from his torn robes, and showed it to everyone dramatically. It was the photograph of Ron, and who I assumed to be his family (all who were ginger), with the logo of the Daily Prophet barely above where it had been torn, and there, on Ron's shoulder, was Scabbers.
