Paris’ POV
I stepped outside and shut the door behind me, noticing how Amber was already on her way down the sidewalk. “Hey! Wait up, Amber!” I called out, but to no avail. I quickly ran to catch up with her and luckily for me, she didn’t get too far. I came to an eventual halt and walked next to her. It was silent for a moment before I decided to break it.

“Sooo! Are you excited for school today?” I asked softly, a small undertone of breathlessness evident in my voice. Amber slowly turned her head to look at me, her eyes bored and her expression dull, “Absolutely not. That place is as boring as ever.” She replied after making eye contact. I blinked at her unusual tone this morning, slightly cocking my head to the side.

“Did you get enough sleep last night? It doesn’t really sound like it… If I’m being honest.” I questioned, worried for her well-being, even if it was just one night. Amber shook her head with a small, barely audible sigh, “No… I’m just not ecstatic to see everyone again. You remember last year… Everyone hated me! I didn’t even do anything last year!” She exclaimed, a small whimper in her voice.

I blinked, not knowing about any of this until now. “And… you didn’t tell anyone..? Not even me… or dad?” I asked, my tone shifting to one of worry. Amber visibly tensed up at the question, most likely realizing what she just said. “I-... I told myself… everything would be fine and it wasn’t a big deal… it was just a twisted game…” She mumbled softly, barely loud enough for me to hear.

Amber’s ears slowly flattened against her head as she turned her gaze away from me and looked away. I could tell she didn’t want to talk about it right now, I’m not that dense. I let out a soft sigh before stopping and gently tapping her shoulder. She tensed up even more at the touch before relaxing and looking at me, stopping in her tracks.

“What is it… Paris…?” She asked softly, embarrassment evident in her voice. I couldn’t help but feel a little bad that I didn’t notice it before and ask about it when it first happened, whenever that might’ve been. “Do… Do you wanna go to the park after school..? Just to give us some time before we have to go back home to mom and dad.” I asked softly, unsure if she’d even accept it.

Amber blinked before nodding slowly, “Y-Yeah… that’ll be fine…” There was a small hint of relief in her voice with her ears raising slightly from the side of her head. I smiled softly knowing that she accepted it and her body language showed that her mood was improving. I started walking again with the thought, knowing that I was going to spend at least a little bit of time with my sister after school.

After about 5 minutes of walking, we were nearing the school’s campus, but I stopped abruptly. Amber stopped with me and looked at me, confused about what I was doing, so she asked, “What are you doing, Paris..? We’re gonna be late.” I shook my head as I kneeled down, looking at the ground.

Frog.

I scooped it up and held it up with a smile. Amber recoiled at the sight, moving away from me. “PARIS! PUT IT DOWN!” She screamed, her expression quickly shifting to one of fear and anxiety. “What?! It’s a frog!” I exclaimed back in response, shifting it to put it in my paw. I looked at the frog from different angles while Amber kept backing away and didn’t take her eyes off the frog.

I looked up at Amber with a chuckle and smug smirk. “What? Scared of a little frog?” I said smugly, the smirk not leaving my face. The frog shifted in my paw to look directly at me. “I’m not a frog, jackass!” The frog exclaimed as both Amber and I just stared at it in shock before it finally clicked in my head and I dropped the frog.

In a small cloud of smoke, the frog reappeared as a Zorua, sitting on their rear. “Gah… fuck… that hurt.” The unknown Zorua muttered, slowly pushing themselves back onto their paws. I was at a loss for words at the sudden appearance of the Zorua that looked to be around Amber and my age. That didn’t make any sense to me.

The Zorua flipped their gaze between Amber and myself, back and forth. “What? Never seen a Zorua transform before?” They asked, their voice sounding a bit more feminine than masculine. I looked at Amber for a moment before looking back at the Zorua. “Who are you..?” I asked, a simple question being the only thing that came to mind.

The Zorua chuckled softly before walking in the direction of the school. “Telik. I’m sure we’ve met before… at some point. Meh, I’m sure  I’ll see you around!” Telik called out as he got further and further away. Amber and I just looked at each other, completely lost for anything we could’ve thought of beforehand.

???’s POV
I waved goodbye to my mom and dad with a soft smile before shutting the front door. I felt the smile quickly fade as I sighed and started walking to the school. I kicked a small rock and kept kicking it as I walked down the sidewalk, finding a small joy in repeatedly kicking a small object. Until a heavy disappointment hit me when I kicked it a little too hard and lost it in the grass.

I whined softly as I kicked it too hard and lost it in the grass, knowing I lost it. I quickly searched the ground for another one I could find and start kicking on the way to the gates of the school. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find another one and was stuck with no rocks to kick. I let out a soft, sad sigh as I lifted my head and started focusing on the path in front of me.

I got bored on the walk and decided to become something I thought would’ve been an oddball move. A frog. I stopped where I was standing and closed my eyes before focusing on the image of a frog and eventually I felt myself fall to the ground. I opened my eyes as I felt the falling sensation and felt my now smaller body hit the floor, which surprisingly didn’t hurt, at all.

I looked around at my lower position to the ground before I started hopping toward the school. Everything was so much bigger and every pokémon that walked by me was like a giganta-max version of their species. It was awesome but scary at the same time, mainly because if somemon stepped on me, I was definitely dead.

As I approached the school, I decided to not go. I have a test in one of my classes and I really do not want to take it, so I just hopped my happy ass past the gate. It wasn’t long past the gate before a familiar Eevee picked me up, I think his name was Paris? Meh, what mattered was that he picked me up and I was terrified.

I didn’t move at all and let the Eevee holding me do whatever he wanted. I was ready to transform back and fight, but something caught me off guard. He put me on his paw and took his other paw away from me. “What? Scared of a frog?” He said, a smug tone highly evident in his voice.

I slowly turned to look the Eevee in the eyes. There was a smirk on his face and he was still looking on somewhere else, but I didn’t care too much about that. “I am not a frog, jackass!” I exclaimed, my frog eyebrows furrowing slightly. The Eevee’s smirk quickly faded as he looked directly at me.

There was a long moment of silence before he suddenly dropped me in a panic. I panicked as well and quickly closed my eyes, bracing to hit the floor, but instead of a longer freefall, I hit the ground a lot sooner than expected. I opened my eyes as a small cloud of smoke cleared. I quickly looked down at myself and noticed I was back in my Zorua form.

I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my rear and muttered rather loudly, “Gah… fuck… that hurt.” I tried to brush the pain away as I pushed myself back up to my paws, looking between the 2 that were there. 2 Eevees… Wait a minute…I know her… Amber. That girl that was pushed into the sewage canal behind the school last year. She’s got some balls to show back up here.

“Who are you..?” The male voice behind me asked. I looked back at him and responded almost automatically. “Telik. I’m sure we’ve met before… at some point. Meh, I’m sure I’ll see you around!” I said with a soft chuckle and started to make my leave back toward the school. I didn’t hear a response back from them. My best guess is that they were too flabbergasted to answer back.

I walked back up to the gates of the school, making my final decision to go to school for today. I sighed softly as I’m taking what just happened as Arceus’ idea to keep me on the right track and in line. I started walking in and into the medium-size building I was going to be stuck in for the next 8 hours.
