"Go back up to your room, bud. We'll be up there soon to tuck you in." Camila answered the tired boy who quickly listened. As soon as the two women lost sight of his tiny legs walking up the stairs, they immediately dropped their previous tension and couldn't help but start freaking out.

"What the fuck are we going to tell him?" Lauren harshly whispered, grabbing handfuls of her hair as Camila took deep breaths. "Camz, how the hell do we tell a four year old that his parents died and aren't coming home?"

"I don't know Lauren!" Camila whispered back. "I never imagined myself being in this fucking situation but now we are, and we're going to go up there and wing it whether we like it or not." She lead the way towards Joey's bedroom, leaving Lauren quietly screaming at herself.

"How do you 'wing' telling a kid that his parents are-" Lauren stopped mid-sentence, since now Joey's room door was open. As the girls entered, they melted at the sight of the four year old cuddling close to his teddy bear.

"Hey Joey" Camila cooed, sitting on the edge of the bed as she gently rubbed his legs through the blanket. She always found that comforting whenever her own parents had done it.

"Where's mommy and daddy?" Joey asked again.

Lauren sighed out and sat on the floor next to his bed, petting his head while thinking of something to say. "What, you don't like Aunt Camila and I taking care of you?" She tried to brighten up the mood, making the two others laugh.

"I do" Joey shrugged, smiling between the two women. "I just miss them, that's all."

"We miss them too." Camila felt tears filling her eyes. "You know bud, there's this story where people say that God has plans for every single person that he creates.."

"For some people, he planned that they will become some famous hockey players." Lauren cut in.

"Like Adam Mcquaid?" Joey's eyes lit up at the mention of his idol.

"Exactly like Adam Mcquaid." Camila booped his nose before continuing, "But for other people, God sometimes realizes that he needs help... So he takes them back up into heaven.." She slowed down, needing help from Lauren.

"God was in need of having guardian angels. They are the people who are chosen to protect their loved ones from any harm in the world." Lauren said, realizing that Joey looked somewhat understanding. "Do you remember Uncle Luke?"

"Daddy's friend when he was in the Marine's?"

"First, God took him. Do you remember that?" Lauren said softly, seemingly like she was able to take care of the situation while Camila's tears were freely strolling down her face. "Well now, God decided that your mommy and daddy were the next chosen ones.. So they can protect us."

Joey stayed silent, nodding his head. "So this means they passed away." Lauren raised an eyebrow at his comment. "Mommy told me the same thing when Grandma died."

"Yea." Lauren sighed out, her breath completely shaky. "But they wanted you to know that they both loved you very much. Okay? More than words can ever describe."

"Okay." Joey responded, turning over to his left side to face the wall. "I'm going to sleep now." His voice was quiet and had no real emotion in it.

"Goodnight buddy." Lauren kissed his head, followed by Camila. They left his room right after, while their hearts finally settled down it's fast beating.
