I toss my bag into the back seat and slump down beside Hinata. Miwa starts the car, and for a while, none of us say anything. It's not that I mind silence, but Hinata has never been good at staying quiet for long.
Sure enough, he breaks it.
"So, um... what do you wanna do when we get to your house, Tobio?" he asks, his voice a little too eager.
I sigh, trying not to sound annoyed. "I don't know. We can just watch a movie or something."
Before I can think of a way to steer the conversation elsewhere, Miwa, of course, decides to butt in.
"I know! You guys should watch Heartstopper!" She says it like it's the best idea in the world, and I can practically hear the grin in her voice.
My face heats up immediately. Not this again.
Hinata bursts out laughing, his obnoxious, high-pitched laugh filling the car. "OH MY GOD, SERIOUSLY? THAT'S PERFECT!!"
I glare at both of them, mortified. "Don't. Be. Ridiculous. We are NOT watching that."
Hinata grins at me, that mischievous glint in his eyes. "Oh yeah? And why not?"
I can feel my face burning as I avoid Hinata's eyes, glancing at Miwa instead. She's got that look—the one that says she knows way too much.
"W-Why not? Because! I just don't want to, okay? It's a dumb show, why would we watch it?"
Hinata shakes his head, still laughing. "Oh, so you think it's dumb? If it's so dumb, why not watch it, huh? You hiding something?"
My blood runs cold at that. Before I can respond, Miwa jumps in again.
"Tobio, why are you so against watching Heartstopper? Are you... homophobic or something?" she teases, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
I'm about two seconds from throwing myself out of the car. "WHAT!? NO! Of course, I'm not! It's just... it's stupid, okay?"
Miwa's smile doesn't budge, and I know she's onto me. She knows why I don't want to watch it. She knows way too much.
Hinata, still grinning like an idiot, leans back, shaking with laughter. "Wow, the tension in this car is killing me right now."
Miwa glances at me in the rearview mirror and giggles. "Okay, Shoyo, maybe we should stop teasing Tobio... he looks like he's about to explode!"
Hinata finally loses it, doubling over in his seat with uncontrollable laughter. "Oh my god, you're right, he looks like he's gonna kill you! Okay, okay, I'll stop!"
I cross my arms and stare out the window, trying to calm down while they keep laughing.
"You two are ridiculous," I mutter.
