EN ROUTE TO GOTHAM CITY
The plane was crowded and stuffy, the sounds of babies crying filled the air, Jason grits his teeth and bares it, he hadn't thought to bring any type of headphones or ear plugs so he had to raw dog the flight.
Gaia however, was peacefully sitting next to him, she'd gotten the window seat that lucky bitch, ear plugs in, and currently meditating? Even if Gaia had ear plugs in there's no way they muffled the loud noises enough to concentrate on meditation.
With a sigh Jason leans his head into the seat, he understood that flying in a public plane would make their traveling fsr more discreet and harder to track, but damn Jason would kill for one of the private jets he'd gone on whenever the League sent him on missions or away for training. Honestly, it didn't even have to be a private jet, it could just be a plane without children on it, anything to get him away from the annoying baby behind him who decided this was the perfect time to scream its stupid little lungs out. Jason was against hurting children, he'd never lay a finger on a child, but right now he was debating it.
The child's screams got louder, Gaia cracked her good eye open to glower at the baby, before sharing a look with Jason. Sure Jason wasn't the biggest fan of his glorified babysitter, but he could agree with her on this matter. The baby was so fucking annoying.
Hours drag on, and just as Jason starts to reach a breaking point, though he is somewhat impressed that the kid was able to cry for four hours straight, the plane landed.
After an announcement from the pilot, people started to get off, luckily for Jason, he and Gaia had ended up at the front of the plane right near the exit, so they were some of the first off. Jason grabbed his small backpack and trudged off the airplane and onto solid ground, the smoggy air of Gotham City greeted him as he stretched. Jason didn't think he ever missed Gotham, but here he was home again, and not able to ignore how right it felt to be welcomed back into her darkness.
"We're practically on our own from now on," Gaia says, walking up behind him. "Talia said she'd only be sending us funds when we got to Gotham."
Jason rolls his eyes, "I know, i was there for the conversation."
Gaia walks towards the airport exit, only a small carry-on in her hand. "No need to be so rude." She snarks, walking ahead of him, Jason didn't even need to try to get under her skin, it seemed his existence was enough to do that.
"Talia said she left us one more thing," Gaia says, navigating her way through the parking garage. She leads Jason to a motorcycle. "Really Talia?" She sighs, there's only one bike. "I swear she does this on purpose," she mutters.
Gaia got onto the motorcycle, "You'll have to sit on the back."
"No," Jason says, no room for debate in his voice.
"You wanna walk?"
"I don't see why i can't be the one driving," Jason snaps, gripping his bag.
"Because i do trust your driving abilities."
"Well, i don't trust yours."
"I learned to drive when i was ten, i think you'll be fine. Now get on the bike before i ditch you."
"I thought you were my babysitter?" Jason snarks as he begrudgingly gets on the bike, he tightly holds onto Gaia, if he has to be in the back he might as well make her suffer as well.
"Im your guard, not babysitter," Gaia says, Jasons sure shes rolling her eye as she pulls out of the parking lot.
"Same difference," Jason says "and why should i trust your driving? You're literally half blind."
"Im not half blind."
"With that eye patch you are."
Jason notices how she grips the handlebar a bit tighter. "Oh touched a nerve did i?"
"I will throw you off the bike."
"Your sister won't be happy with you if you do," Jason says in a snarky tone.
"Good thing i don't give a flying fuck about her and her stupid opinion."
"Ohhh sister issues?" Jason says sarcastically.
Gaia just stays silent, but Jason can tell she's annoyed.🔴
They pull up at a run-down motel near crime alley.
"Well stay here until we can get some safe houses and set up base," Gaia says, getting off the bike.
"You know, this is my revenge plan, and yet you're acting in charge."
Gaia stops in her tracks and looks at Jason, a strained grin forced on her face "oh im sorry for the insolence my dear leader."
Jason rolls his eyes and walks to the motel lobby. "I could kill you."
"The League wouldn't be too happy about that." She says, walking in behind him.
Jason ignores her and goes to the front desk. "I need two single rooms."
The tired middle-aged woman at the desk looks at the two, then mutters something about 'young couples and their arguments,' Jason ignores that. "We only have one room available, it's a single bed but we have extra cots."
Jason sighs "That'll work."
"Alright that's one hundred and twelve dollars for the night," the secretary says. Geez motels are pricier than Jason remembered. Nevertheless, he hands the woman the money, and she gives him a key and a cot.
The two walk to their room, room 17, they walk over to is quiet, Jason thankful he doesn't have to deal with Gaia's annoying voice.
They get to their room, there a lingering smell of cigarettes and the place looks trashy as hell. Jason puts the cot on the ground, if Gaia wants to sleep she can set it up herself. However Jason doubts she'll sleep, he hadnt seen her rest at all throughout the entire trip from the Middle East to America.
Gaia sets up the cot nonetheless, she sits on top of it and begins to meditate, this must be her form of sleep or something, judging by how regularly she does this.
Jason walked around the motel, it definitely seen better years, Jason wasn't sure what else hed expected from a motel near Crime Alley. He looks at the bathroom, debating iltakung a shower, however, the state of the room is disguising so he just goes to bed. Jason doesn't change into pajamas, he didn't bring any, he just flops onto the moth bitten blanket and lies there.
It takes an hour for him to lightly doze off, Jason still doesn't trust Gaia enough to sleep around her, but the exhaustion from traveling catches up to him and he very lightly sleeps. If Gaia tried to pull anything during the night he'd wake up in an instant.Notes!
