Poe's POV
I drag my feet as they carry me to the canteen on autopilot, attempting to wipe the sleep out of my eyes. The unusual cacophony of a crowd reached my ears as I glance around. What was going on? Normally at this hour, it was pretty empty. People were either getting on or off their shift and always moving on to the next thing. The shouting of orders, bustle of footsteps and slosh of cleaners was a contrast for sure. A quick glance around proves I don't know anyone else here, so I'll be in the dark for a little longer. That's.. fine. Annoying, but fine. I'm sure my guys are just out working on their ships.
I swing by the droid depot to pick up BB-8 on my way to the hanger. Normally he'd just dock in my room, but the poor guy took a nasty hit last time we went flying and needed some minor repairs. "Hey, bud- do you know what's happening?" I question as we make our way down the cold hallway. The droid slows down and turns his head as if to look at me. "You haven't heard?" the robot chirps. "...heard what? What's going on B?" Something is off, there's been a shift of energy in the air.
"Our beloved Amethyst Squadron was ambushed last night. Their commander had a run in with Kylo Ren, but managed to fight him off long enough to escape. As their camp was destoryed, they will be arriving shortly and will stay for a couple months,".
My mind was racing as I let out a low whistle. The Amethyst Squadron? Like, they're real? Supposedly the best of the best, too. Hmm. "Thanks, B! I gotta go find the general!" I say, my feet moving as quickly as my thoughts. I slide my feet and push the doors open, my eyes scanning across the room to an amused General Organa.
"Poe, just the guy I was looking for," she draws out. "I need you to ensure the Y hangar doors are open and the droids are powered on,". What? The Y- what?
"Huh?"
"Just go! They land in..." the woman checks her hologram screen. "About eight minutes. BB-8 will help you, go!"
I had no idea we had another branch off our hangar... let alone more droids and technology to work it. Why couldn't they dock with us, though? There was more than enough room. I shake my head. Perhaps their technology was out of date, and we needed the old stuff to work them. Yeah.... yeah, that's probably it.
