I sat next to the entrance to the medicine den, eyes grazing over all the injuries of my warriors from the battle. It hadn't gone too long. As soon as Whiteslash fled, the Thunderclan patrol followed him and then it was just Peaceclan against Riverclan and Windclan. Well, Riverclan and Windclan minus all the traitors that were really on our side.
In the end, Riverclan called the backup forces but still fled after only a little while. Windclan, left on their own, surrendered immediately. Because our injuries were not that bad, I got Tropicpalm and Yellowpaw to help treat Windclan's injuries. Since most of their warriors were too hurt, I got some of mine to catch them prey. We were still in the Windclan camp and I was keeping watch, making sure to break up any arguments that looked like it could escalate into a fight.
Now, Lemonstar approached me, tail lashing, "What is it you're trying to get at? First you beat us up, then you start catching us prey?"
I avoided her heated gaze, feeling a sort of guilt seep through my pelt then anger at feeling ashamed at all.
Taking a deep breath, I explained, "You destroyed half of our camp not too recently. The war was a show of strength. To show that we were not just a bunch of weaklings hiding from war. We are helping you now to show that we can be friendly. That we can be fierce warriors but also want peace."
Lemonstar pelt ruffled, her voice sly and challenging, "You speak like you conduct this clan. But are you really the leader? Has Starclan given you nine lives?"
I glanced at her, wondering what she was trying to say, "No. I have not asked for nine lives yet. However, that might be a good idea."
"I'm sure the clans would respect you more if you got nine lives. That would mean that Starclan accepted you." Lemonstar smoothed her pelt, sitting down beside me, "When I became leader, Windclan did not approve of me. They thought I was too young and did not respect me. The other leaders also looked down their noses at me. They thought they could steal prey from me with no consequences. But I proved myself to be capable of everything when I attacked them."
I nodded, remembering the chaotic times. But Lemonstar caught my eye, "However, that only made them fear me. I wanted them to know that I was a good leader. So I helped all the clans restore themselves to full health and created some useful allies."
I flicked my ears, "Are you offering to ally with Peaceclan?"
Lemonstar let out a purr of laughter, "Under the circumstances, no. You have injured my warriors!"
I looked at her hopefully, "But in the future?"
She agreed, "Windclan supports the development of Peaceclan." Lemonstar wrinkled her nose, "Besides, why don't you choose a new name for Peaceclan after the war settles down?"
I stood up, walking towards Fallenleaf, Lilypad and Stormcloud, calling back, "I'll think about it. I appreciate your support."
