EMILIO's POV

We won and it feels amazing every time.

I know, it's not common for freshman to play at the beginning of the season. But not to throw flowers at us, we are not any freshman.
My team and I back in high school won 4 championships in a row. It helps us get known among the college's recruiters and the boys and I accepted the offer of Sorone University.
We call ourselves the FabFives: Axel, Atlas, Cory, Elias and I.

I consider these 4 like my brothers. We all have our differences but if there is one thing on which we always end up on the same line, it's basketball.

We have all played ball together since we were 6. We used to spend our days on the outside courts of the city playing. And now being able to play with them at college level is amazing.

"So, who was the girl you were talking with earlier ?" Axel asks me with a cocky smile while slipping his arms around my shoulders while we are all heading outside.
"Oooh our boy is fast," Elias added walking next to us.

I side eye them and take Axel's arms off me,
"Just a girl I met at the park" I casually shrugged for them to stop talking about it.
"Creepy" I hear Atals say. I roll my eyes at their comments while ignoring them.

If i'm being honest i didn't stop thinking about this "secret girl" since the day i met her. It felt like I knew her somehow, as if we already met somewhere.
And then, when I saw her at the court earlier. I was....surprisingly pleased as if her presence brought some kind of light like the one her yellow bracelet was giving.

But it quickly was replaced by disappointment when I saw her leave.

I probably sounded so creepy when I asked her if we could see each other again. But she has this thing, this thing I can't explain.
Her beautiful brown eyes and wavy messy hair, her gentle smile all of that bring this sort of peace. As if we could sit and talk for hours about random shit and she would listen and understand everything.

" Are you coming to the party ?" Cory asks me once we are in the dark streets along with all the crowd that went out of the gym.
"No," I shook my head, "My mother is waiting for me." They all nod their heads and I wave at them while starting walking away.
"Say hi to Carmen from me" I recognize Axel voice and I playfully roll my eyes and give him my middle finger while walking away.

My mother texted me right before the game asking me to come home because she wanted to talk.

My parents live in the center of Paris in a sophisticated Hausmannian building. And even if it's not located too far from the school the boys and I decided to move and live all together. We have this sort of loft apartment that is big enough to fit 5 basketball players.

After a little bit more than 15 minutes the uber I ordered dropped me at the bottom of my parents' apartment. I went in and respectfully nodded when my gaze met Arthur's, the building's janitor.
I take the elevator and arrive at my parents house. I open the door with my keys and once I go in I see my mother sitting on her comfy, soft beige sofa. She has a glass of wine in her hand and stares at the wall size window of the living room.
The room is lit by several small yellow lights dispersed in the room.
"Mom..?", I slowly say, walking towards her. "Is everything alright?" she turns around with a weak smile and pat the sofa next to her,
"Come here cariño"
