After a right turn I end up in an empty narrow street where I keep walking until I find myself in front of a small library.

I take a look at the books that are displayed at the entry before going inside.
It's big and tiny at the same time. The walls are all covered by tall, endless shelves filled with books.
I keep walking inside when my eyes meet an old lady. She has pearl white hair and her glasses are falling at the tip of her nose while being attached to her neck by a sort of a necklace. She gives me a gentle smile and I do too.

Historical ... .fantasy ... ..science fiction…
And i end up in my favorite section: Romance.

I know… you can call it cringy or whatever. But nothing worth a good romantic book about two people who hate each other and end up being each other's reason to live.

I move my fingers through the book’s covers until I stop on a random book whose title doesn't ring any bells:

The Buccaneers by Edith Wharton.

I shrug and take it out of the shelf after what I sit on a booth side next to the window of the library.
I bring my knees to chest and start my reading.

I used to do that all the time back in my hometown.
Going to the library downtown, the only one in the town in fact. I would pick a random book on one of the shelves, either because the title would intrigue me or simply because I liked the cover.
I know it's said not to judge a book by its cover but, God knows how many times I've done that.

I am taking out my deep reading when I hear the rain pouring on the window next to me. I look through it and see how dark the sky is and wonder what time it is.
This is typical of me, I always lose the notion of time when I read. I take a glimpse at my phone which indicates 5pm and I audibly gaps. God I almost spent 4 hours here and haven't eaten anything since my breakfast.
I look back at the book in my hands and see that I still have one third to read. So of course the next thing I do is heading towards the cashier to buy this amazing book.
When I arrived the woman looked at me with a bigger smile than earlier when I came in. I hand her the book and she starts talking,
“ it has been a long time I haven't seen a girl of your age being so deep into reading a book that old”
I bring my eyebrows together. I haven't really been careful about when the book was written.

I give her a tied smile and pay for the book after which I thank her and go out.
I don't mean to be mean or cold but it's just that I'm really bad at small talk.

Then, the second I stepped outside, I got surprised when I was covered by raindrops. I immediately take steps back to cover myself under the library's rooftop. I take my umbrella that is always in the left pocket of my backpack.
I open it and start making my way home. I take my sweet time walking as slow as I can, savoring the feeling of walking under the rain which is an amazing feeling.
