CHAPTER 19

ON THE BATTLEGROUND.

THERE was total bloodbath and carnage
The arrows of Rudra seemed unstoppable and irresistible. Pandu with fierce determination in his eyes ordered his charioteer to move forward.

Rudra gets back on his chariot and they come face to face.

All the past memories came flooding the minds of Rudra.But he shook that feeling as he can't allow the emotions to overpower him. He closed his eyes and gulped a lump in his throat and challenged Pandu.

Today the world will see the valour of a suta. Get ready to face my arrows. Pandu who himself was a skilled archer was quite impressed by the display of archery by Rudra. But he knew this was not going to be an easy battle.
So he fired the salvo and it was swiftly countered by Rudra. Then Rudra fired an arrow which multiplied into several arrows it was effectively cut by Pandu.

But as the time progressed the intensity of attack on each other grew stronger. They then resorted to firing divyastras. For Pandu first fored agneyastra but it was countered by varunastra.

It totally shocked PANDU Aas he was not wxpecting him to possess the knowledge of divyastras. Seeing him perplexed Rudra smikrked and said you should have done your homework properly. I am not just an ordinary suta. I am the disciple of Guru Shuklacharya and i completed my education in far less time than a normal student would require.
But for know answer my this astra and he summoned andhakastra.

Whole atmosphere was engulfed in the huge darkness but Pandu summoned Mahamrityunjay astra and dismantled his astra.

The battle got intensified and Rudra knew he can't allow this war to drag any longer so he increased his speed of attack and since he was powered by Raskund there was not an ounce of tiredness but Pandu began to tire. It was increasingly becoming very difficult to counter the arrows just as he was about ro collapse. The rein forcement in form of Sindhuraj Brihadchattra arrived and together they attacked Rudra but Rudra being Rudra countered both of them with ease soon he was able ro cut the bow of Brihadchattra and killed his charioteer and destroyed his chariot and then tied him in nagpasha. While Pandu conrinued fighting surprised that  Rudra was still as fresh as he was in the start of the war but he continued fighting. Soon inevitable happened and Pandu was disarmed his chariot was destroyed.

Soon the magadhan army cheered in jubiliation. They had long stopped fighting witnessing the battle of two great archers.

They raised their voices long live the king long live the king.

But Rudra also kept his bow down and and dismounted his chariot and came near Pandu and challenged him to a wrestling match.

Offering him the victory if he manages to defeat him. Pandu had no choice but to accept the challenge. Thus started the natch.

It was almost no contest as Rudra easily overpowered him and dragged him through the battlefield. And then ordered him to be tied.

His commander in chief Hiranyadhanush came forward and asked your highness what do you intend to do with him?

Rudra - him. He is an asset. To free him he will come. I am waiting for this moment for far too long.

Hiranyadhanush - who is it you are talking about??

Before he could reply a twang of a bow was heard and the atmosphere became electrically charged with its booming voice.

Rudra- its the twang of Govardhana bow. The bow of mighty bhishma. The infallible one. I was waiting for him only.

Soon they came face to face.

It was after so many years. Finally Rudra could feel it. His life long dream is going to be fulfilled.Today he will avenge not only himself but for his wife( his dear life).
