The morning after their unsettling experience at the circus, the group went about their day with a sense of unease. They tried to return to normalcy, but the events of the previous day lingered in their minds.
As Onyx and his friends walked through town, discussing their plans for the day, the sound of an approaching vehicle caught their attention. An advertisement truck, adorned with vibrant colors and a loud, cheerful jingle, rumbled down the street. Its bright, flashy appearance contrasted sharply with the growing tension among the group.
The truck came to a slow stop near them, and the figure in the passenger seat leaned out of the window. He was an unsettling sight: a Cheshire cat-like creature dressed in light blues and turquoise, with an unsettlingly wide grin that seemed to stretch from ear to ear. His eyes gleamed with a predatory glint as he scanned the crowd.
The figure's gaze locked onto Wei, and a chilling smile spread across his face.
"Well, well, if it isn’t my old friend," the figure called out in a voice that dripped with malice. His words were laced with a mocking familiarity that sent a shiver down Wei’s spine.
Wei's reaction was immediate. His wings flared out in a defensive posture, and a low growl rumbled from his throat. His eyes were wide with fear, and his normally composed demeanor cracked under the pressure of the figure’s unsettling presence.
Riggs: “What’s going on? Who is that?”
Tixo: “Do you know him, Wei?”
Wei's wings trembled as he tried to steady himself, his fear evident. He managed to choke out a few words, his voice strained.
Wei: “He—he’s from Cyndryll. Someone I’d hoped never to see again.”
The figure continued to grin, enjoying the effect he was having on Wei.
Cheshire Cat Figure: “It’s been too long, my dear. How nice to see you again.”
The group's concern grew as they watched Wei’s reaction. His fear was palpable, and it was clear that whatever this figure represented was something from his past that caused him significant distress.
Greyson: “Wei, are you okay? Do you need us to do anything?”
Wei: “Just...stay back. I’ll handle this.”
Despite Wei’s attempt to reassure them, the group remained on high alert, their eyes fixed on the Cheshire cat figure and the ominous truck that now began to drive away, leaving behind a lingering sense of dread.
As the truck disappeared down the street, the group turned to Wei, their worry evident.
Tixo: “What’s going on? Who was that?”
Wei: “He’s known as the Cheshire Cat. He’s connected to some dark things from my past. I need to find out what he wants.”
The group gathered closer around Wei, their determination to support him clear. They knew that whatever was coming next, they would face it together, and they were ready to stand by Wei’s side as he confronted his past.
With a renewed sense of purpose, the group prepared to delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding the circus and the sinister forces at play, knowing that the Cheshire Cat’s appearance was only the beginning of the challenges they would face.
