When love remains
In a small, worn-out box, tucked away
Lies a letter, faded with time’s gray
A message from my mother’s gentle hand
Written before she left this mortal land
I remember the day, she gave it to me
With tears in her eyes, and a heart full of plea
“Read this when I’m gone,” she whispered low
“And remember, my love, will forever grow”
Years passed, and I forgot the box’s place
Until the day, I saw her smiling face
In a dream, where she beckoned me near
And I awoke, with tears, and a heart full of fear
I opened the box, and unfolded the page
And read the words, that made my heart engage
“My dearest child, I’m writing this to say
That I’ll always love you, come what may
In heaven’s gardens, I’ll watch over you
And guide your steps, through life’s journey anew
Don’t cry for me, when I’m gone, my dear
For I’ll be with you, always near
In every breeze, that whispers your name
In every sunbeam, that lights your way
But there’s one thing, I ask of you
To take care of your father, and see him through
He’s fragile now, and needs your hand
To walk the path, where I once stood
And when you’re old, and gray, and weak
Remember my love, and the memories we seek
For in your heart, our love will forever stay
And guide you home, come what may”
As I finished reading, tears streamed down
And I felt her presence, in that quiet town
I wept for the memories, we shared in the past
And for the love, that would forever last
But most of all, I wept for the request
To care for my father, and be his best
For in that moment, I realized the weight
Of her love, and the burden I’d undertake
“I took my mother’s hand, in a promise to care
For the man, who had always been there
Through laughter and tears, through every fall
He had been my rock, my guiding wall
But now, he was fragile, and needed me
To hold his hand, and set his heart free
I remembered my mother’s words, so clear
To take care of him, and wipe away his tear
I moved back home, to be by his side
To care for him, and be his guide
We spent our days, in quiet peace
Watching sunsets, and memories release
But as time passed, his memories began to fade
And I saw the pain, in his eyes, like a shade
He forgot my name, and our life together
And I felt the weight, of my mother’s last letter
I held his hand, through every test
And whispered my mother’s words, in his ear, to rest
I told him stories, of our family’s past
And the love we shared, that would forever last
And when his time came, to leave this earth
I held him close, and gave him my birth
I whispered my mother’s words, one last time
And felt their love, forever intertwined”
“As I held him close, I felt a strange peace
A sense of closure, a world to cease
From the pain and the tears, the struggles and fears
A sense of calm, through all the years
I remembered my mother’s words, so clear
‘The love we share, will forever appear’
In every sunset, in every star
In every heartbeat, near and far
I felt their love, in every breath I take
A love that’s pure, a love that won’t break
Through every moment, through every test
Their love remains, forever at its best
And as I laid him down, to rest
I knew that I’d been blessed
To have had them both, in my life’s journey
To have felt their love, in every moment’s glory
Their legacy lives on, through me
A love that’s strong, a love that’s free
A love that guides me, through every step
A love that heals, a love that never forgets”
“I look up at the sky, and see their faces
Smiling down on me, in a warm embrace
Their love surrounds me, like a gentle breeze
Reminding me of memories, and moments we’ve seized
I feel their presence, in every step I take
Guiding me forward, through life’s joys and mistakes
Their love is my anchor, my shelter from the storm
A constant reminder, of the love we’ve formed
Years have passed since they’ve been gone
But their love remains, and continues to grow strong
In my heart, their memory stays
A bittersweet reminder, of life’s precious days
But even in death, their love shines bright
A beacon of hope, in the darkest night
For I know that they’re watching over me
And their love will forever set me free”
