She closed her eyes, wishing for all of it to disappear. To be nothing but a simple dream; an illusion. Something that vanishes the next moment.

However, of course, insanity cannot disappear overnight nor the next minute.

Instead she cracked a smile, twirled her staff, the keys at the end jingling and smacked it to the ground. Laughing at the kids as they rush to get their treats as well as the ones screaming in fright.

Halloween floated from off the ground, following the breeze of autumn to stop at an abandoned house where she frightened children with despicable noises. She could not contain her laugh nor her ecstasy at the terror those children felt.

She adored it.

But all of a sudden, everything went dark.

The light never approached Halloween again in the next decade.

. . .

"We have problem," North uttered. Nicholas St. North or known to the children as Santa Claus glanced at his fellow Guardians, feeling uneasy about the whole situation.

"Better be a good reason for this, fella," E. Aster Bunnymund A.K.A the Easter Bunny exclaimed, scratching his chest while his nose twitched.

"I have many things to do," Toothiana, the Tooth Fairy stated quickly. "Please make it quick."

Sanderson Mansnoozie or better known as Sandman made a bunch of signs with his golden sand above his head to explain that, he too, was occupied.

"Yes, yes, I know," North said, calming them down with his big hands. "I would not call you few days before Christmas if not important."

"Then what is it?"

North sighed before responding. "I don't know why I never noticed but for one decade Halloween—" Then raising his hands, he let out: "—boo!"

Bunny gave him a look of utter confusion and it would seem his fellow companions felt the same way. "What are ya talkin' about, mate?"

"Halloween disappear. Children losing hope. Halloween dying."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Bunnymund stepped forward, his paws in the air. "Are ya talkin' about the spirit of Halloween?"

"Yes."

"I thought it was just a myth," Tooth uttered, being as surprised as Bunnymund.

"No, Halloween exists and she disappeared. Children are afraid, more afraid than usual. They also be turning dangerous. Savage! If we do not find Halloween, we lose children forever!"

"Is Halloween that important?" Bunny asked.

He always believed, like most people, that Halloween was nothing but candy and supernatural beings. That the children only loved Halloween because they were given free candy and could dress up. What child hates doing both of these? Bunnymund never gave it more importance than that.

"Do not ever tell her that, but Halloween is more important than all of us combined," North stated, looking at all of them, especially Bunny.

The Easter Bunny wasn't even surprised to know North also had a rivalry with Halloween. Since Santa Claus loves saying that Christmas is the best holiday and the best day of the year.

Sandman raised a hand, a question mark made of shiny golden sand appearing above his head.

Toothiana and Bunnymund nodded in agreement to Sandman's question.

What did he mean?

North sighed to only let out a laugh. "You know not?" he exclaimed. "Let me explain! Halloween is not only 'trick' or 'treat'. She protect children from evil beings or evil happenings. She sometime protect grown up as well. If Halloween not there, everyone go insane! So Halloween protect people from danger."

"So in other words..." Tooth started to only get interupted by North.

"Halloween make children good people! Not on Naughty list, although some... but more on Nice list!"

"Alright, so if she's that important why don't we save her right now, mate? So we can go back to our daily lives." Bunnymund said.

North laughed, not that he seemed amused. "Good one, Bunny. But we don't know where she is."

"Then how do you expect us to save her?" Tooth wondered.

"Halloween has favorite place!"

"And where is that?" Bunny questioned, folding his arms.

North smiled wide. "North America! She loves scaring Americans and Canadians! If she not there, maybe Mexico. She loves being there the 2nd of November."

Sandman produced another question mark which Tooth nodded at.

"It's Día de los Muertos," Bunny answered. "The Day of the Dead."

North pointed at him, nodding. "Now then... let's get looking!"
