I was not new to the culture of my people, so blending in did not cause any problems. What I, however, found hard to handle was the carriage ride that the beautiful man had arranged for me to take me 'home'. In my past lifetime, which felt like a few hours ago, I had once used a carriage, but the roads were tarmacked and smooth, unlike the bumpy roads this carriage was using.

It hit another bump or stray stone and I was thrust half an inch off the bench.

"Can't you go a little slower?" I yelled.

"This is the slowest the horse can go, Young Master. But we're almost at your gates. Please bear a little longer."

Almost, 'home'. Dear god, how should I greet them? How should I speak to them? Were they good to this Lin Xuan? Were they enemies?

I had come prepared by wrapping unnecessary bandages around my head and legs to make it look serious. This would help me observe their nature by how they'd react upon seeing me. I also planned on feigning amnesia because things didn't look bright from my end. I had no idea what they'd do to me if they found out that their son was dead and an impostor had taken over his body. Would they tie me up and call an exorcist? Or would they kill me without hesitation?

It was too scary to think about it, so why risk my neck?

As the carriage moved, the lively noises from outside informed me that wherever my home was, it was a place filled with life; I could not afford to attract attention by peeking out the window.

I had even asked the coachman to buy me a fan which I planned to use to hide my face when facing this world for the first time.

"Young Master, we have arrived," he announced, bringing the carriage to a gentle halt, yet the motion still destabilized me.

"Oh! Okay."

I dragged my new body to the exit but suddenly stopped. "Ahem! Could...could you inform them that I am badly hurt and need help?"

"Of course, Young Master."

This time, I peeked out from the curtain hanging at the doorway and saw two majestic gates and seven wide steps leading up to them. From my historical knowledge, families who could afford such an extravagant entrance were either nobles or wealthy business families.

My heart smiled. So 'I' was from a rich family. Nice.

When one was pulled in open, I quickly rushed away from the entrance and laid on one of the two benches to make my act more believable.

"Young Master!"

"Young Master!"

Voices cried out as their owners ran over to the carriage.

"Ow! Ow-ow!" I groaned to make it even more realistic just before one young man barged into the carriage.

"Young Master, what have those bastards done to you?" he questioned angrily when his eyes took in my pitiful state. "Aunt was right. You cannot stay here any longer."

"Huh? Aunt? Who, who are you?" I asked, my voice raspy and weak to match my sorry state.

"Young Master, I'm your cousin, Lin Hao. Have you..."

I placed a hand on my bandaged head. "It hurts. It hurts so much," I cried shutting my eyes and contorting my expression to look like I was on death's door. "It hurts everywhere."

"Young...Master. You, you, you've forgotten me?" He was in disbelief. Making it sound as if someone had broken his heart in a million pieces and thrown them out to the wind.

He placed his hand on my right leg and I froze in the inside.

Even in a man's body, I was still reacting like a girl from any physical touch.

"Liang Yi! I swear I'll make you pay!" he hissed, unconsciously adding pressure to my flesh and bone.

Even though I was not truly wounded, the pressure from his strength made me groan in genuine pain.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Young Master. Come on, I'll help you down."

Staying true to his words, the young man aided me to get off the carriage, where I found a stretcher awaiting me that was to be carried by two strong men wearing dull green clothes that were supposed to be work uniforms.

'My cousin' helped me on the stretcher as well and off I was carried like a patient.

It felt nice. Like I was floating with a clear view of the blue sky. A few birds flew b- no! Not birds, but, people. They were standing on their swords and flying through the air, their robes flapping about to the wind just like their long hair.

I almost choked on my saliva and had to turn to the side coughing.

"Young Master!" Voices squeaked concerned, including the said cousin.

He rushed over to walk by my side, a shaken expression filling his handsome face. "Hold on, Young Master, Aunt, and Uncle are waiting for you. They will get you the best doctor."

I nodded, my newly acquired fan acting as a barrier between him and my panicking face. The blood rushing to my cheeks was overwhelming. I had to think of a believable lie to escape the coming calamity of my second life.

"Aunt, Uncle!" My dear cousin called out as I picked up footsteps heading this way.

"Son!" It was a woman's voice and she sounded truly worried.

'I'm a daughter, mommy,' I wanted to speak my thoughts but refrained if I still wished to stay alive.

The men carrying me stopped moving just as a couple who seemed to be in their mid-forties appeared. The woman's hair was full of hairpins of gold and silver colors that complimented the blue robes she wore.

Her skin was flawless, not a scar in sight, and her hands were slender as they held mine. "My poor baby, what have they done to you?" she whispered with tears leaving her eyes.

Ah, the motherly love would give me a sugar rush very soon.

"Ahem!" her partner cleared his throat, to earn my attention. "You'll leave for Cloud Sect as soon as you have healed. If you stay in this city any longer, you will marry Liang Ying whether you like it or not."

"Cloud Se-"

"Aunt, Uncle. My cousin has suffered a head injury that has affected his memories. I'm afraid he cannot remember any of us or anything. That bastard beat him so hard, and these are the results."

"What?!" they squeaked simultaneously, shock seeping from their voices and faces as they stared at me.

"Son," 'my father' called taking my free hand. "You remember me, your father, right."

With my intestines on fire from my nervousness, I shook my head pulling on a confused and frightened expression.

He looked to the other side and mumbled something angrily before facing me again with a wide smile. "It's okay. It's okay. I'm your father and thus is your mother." He then gazed at the said cousin and instructed him, "Find Doctor Xin, hurry!"
