I was lucky that the doctors here had no advanced technology to check whether I was lying about my amnesia. He did, however, confirm that I had suffered serious injuries but was given some expensive and rare medicine that helped me recover overnight.

He also informed him that my dantian had been hurt, thus, my cultivation was now almost nonexistent.

From the look on 'my' parents' faces, the news probably meant something bad for all of us. I didn't know how the revelation would affect me then as in the future, so I simply brushed it off and closed my eyes. Everything had eventually worked out for me in the end. Amnesia, no vengeful brother-in-law, no death trap, no cunning stepsister, just lying on a comfortable bed with nothing to worry about(at least for the moment).

The following days proved to be slightly challenging as I tried to adapt to this new body I had been granted by the gods. Whoever knew I'd one day use a penis to relieve myself, or experience what they called, the morning wood.

It was embarrassing on all levels and I just wished I could dig a hole and crawl in it for months until everyone here forgot about me.

I learned from, Lin Hao, my cousin, that I was the only child of my parents. This explained why I was living such a spoiled life of drinking, women, and gambling even though 'I' was only eighteen years old.

He also gave me the name of the man who had beaten the previous owner to death, Liang Yi. He was the older brother of 'my' fiancee. An arrangement that had been made by our grandfathers during their military years serving the country.

He said the only way I could escape it without having to confront my fiancee's family was by joining a sect and coming back in the future to claim my position as the head of the family.

It sounded like a brilliant place except for two things; one, my dantian had been ruined by Liang Yi, and two, I had no idea how to manipulate qi or even connect with my so-called dantian. But all I was certain of was that I needed to see Liang Yi again and make him compensate me for all the damages. If he could do it with money, that would be helpful. I loved money, a lot.

"Young Master, this is Purple Frost, owned by the Liang family," a servant of the Lins informed. He had been my guide here since my cousin had been sent out to run errands by my father.

I opened the black fan and held it in front of my face. Yes, I had come here to find that bastard who had wrecked Lin Xuan's body. Lin Hao had been kind enough to find him for me.

He had been staying here for a fortnight to resolve his sister's marriage issue before going back to his sect and yada yada. He couldn't stay in his home since he had conflicts with his family that could be traced back to ten years ago when he chose to pursue immortality instead of becoming a scholar.

"Have you brought the men I asked you to?" I asked eyeing the servant.

"Yes, Young Master."

"Good. If I don't come out in twenty minutes, please come looking for me."

He nodded and gave a fist-palm salute. "Okay, Young Master."

With that little assurance, I stepped inside the luxurious inn, never taking the fan away from my face while my eyes scanned the people busy dining on this lower level.

Lin Hao had pulled quite a few strings till he got the room number Liang Yi was staying in; what a good cousin. If he found out that everything I had said was a lie, he'd be the first to slice my head from my neck.

"Welcome to Purple Frost, Sir. How may I help you?"

"Um..."

I ran my eyes from her head to her feet. Her figure was nice and her manners were acceptable.

Why hadn't the gods given me such a body?

My soul hurt every time I saw a woman because that should have been me. "Is room seventeen available?" I enquired even though I was certain it wasn't since that was...Liang Yi's room.

She checked through the register on the counter and shook her head regretfully. "I'm sorry, Sir, but it is occupied."

"Oh! Is there any other room available that is close to it?"

"Yes!" she beamed excitedly and double-checked the register. "Room nineteen is vacant. It has a splendid view of the western sky, and you can enjoy a beautiful sunset."

Fanning my face slightly, I nodded. "I'll take it."

I then placed my pouch on the wooden counter. "Take the fee from there, my hand is wounded."

"Oh, okay, Sir."

I had already learned about the currency here. They used silver and gold coins, as well as silver and gold ingots.

I still couldn't estimate how much a single gold coin was worth in the twenty-first century, but seeing the attendant take out only one gold coin, they must have been quite valuable as any real gold would be.

"Thank you, sir." She handed the pouch back with a wide grin along with a key. "Would you like to go up there immediately or have a meal first? Or have it delivered to your room?"

"Um... Delivered, please."

"And what would you like to have, Si-"

"Whatever two silver coins can buy," I cut her short, already feeling anxious as if I was being watched.

But when I looked around, everyone was busy eating, drinking, or chatting. Nobody had their eyes on me at all.

After she had taken two silver coins from the pouch, I grabbed it and turned to leave.

"Sir? Let me take-"

"I can find it on my own."

I needed to leave, the feeling of having invisible eyes on me was creepy and unnerving.

The room I was to stay in was on the second floor, and so was Liang Yi's.

Walking past Liang Yi's room, I stopped and tiptoed to stand by the shut doors.

After gazing around the empty corridor and making sure that nobody would show up, I squinted my left eye while closing my right eye.

The thin crack between the doors only allowed me to see a blurry sight of the inside. Yet all I could see was a bed.

"Who are you looking for?" a calm whisper asked close to my ear as a warm body came from behind me.

"None of your bus-" My throat dried up as if the sun had been sucked into it while my heart trembled from fear as I recognized that voice.

The person I was trying to spy on, was right behind me.
