Whispers of the Underground

Chapter 8

Blazing 

Blazing heard a crash outside. Luckily his mum was off bargaining for a cheaper price for the painting of the glass window at You Want it, We Got It!  (Grain's favourite painting brand)          

He walked outside to see Astonishing trying to grasp for a stray ceramic container that smelt like strawberries. And under him was Ember who was muttering a lot and straining Astonishing from retrieving his strawberry container. "Uum, hi guys." he said, then he decide to mock Astonishing. "How's life with your younger sister? Heir to the throne?" 

"Now that's just being plain mean" Astonishing replied, not paying any attention as he tried to grab another container that was closer. 

"Get. Him. Off. Me. Now. Blazing." she snarled. 

"You'll need to stop trying to stop him from getting his container thing." Blazing instructed her. 

"Fine." she said, twisting his arm first then dropping them. 

"Finally" whined Astonishing. Blazing just kicked him. "Ouch" he winced. 

Ember got up and explained her findings on this map and how that there were actually multiple kingdoms that all belonged to the AntWings but were abandoned. And their plan to go and find the SpiderWings and to convince the queen to become unallied with Queen Lunar and to join them to incinerate the MothWings. 

"Cool! I'm joining!!!" Blazing confirmed. 

Astonishing picked up all his containers and plopped them into his pouch and then quickly sprayed some of the weird liquid on and soon he smelled like cows and not peppermint.  

"Cows, really?"

"Yes!" Astonishing said in a very duh voice. 

"Well let's go find  Nectar now!" said Ember, and Blazing quickly grabbed lots of pouches and a few satchels and threw one to everyone and Astonishing hung a second pouch on his neck right next to the first one that was smelled of a mix of stuff such as strawberries, the traditional AntWing cake and even the smell of burning food. 

Soon, they saw Nectar in view waiting outside her door with a weird looking twig crown on her head.

 "Why are you wearing that?" he asked bluntly.

 Nectar looked like she was about to throw him down the cliff next to her house but then she remembered something. She changed her expression to a worried expression. 

"Do I look weird?" she asked nervously. 

"No!!! I-I d-didn't mean it in that way..." and come to think of it, she actually looked sort of pretty in the twig crown. 

"Okay" she murmured, but in her eyes he could see frustration and annoyance at something. I wonder  what it is...

They explained the plan to her and she smiled. "I'll come!" she exclaimed then saw everyone look at her excitement then she looked like she was burning up of embarressment. "Heh heh" she coughed, trying to draw away attention. 

"Now all we need is Tapinoma!" exclaimed Ember and Astonishing mimciked her in a mocking tone. 

"I'll get food." said Nectar, and Blazing saw her walk into her house and come out with a basketfull of fruit and cakes, plus some fresh meat. "Good enough?" she asked. 

"Can I eat it all? I really hope it's good because usually my personal butl-" Astonshing didn't finish becaus ethey all flew off for the library. "HEY WAIT FOR ME!!!!" he yelled. They didn't listen so Astonishing had to fly faster.
