Phuwin entered the classroom, feeling the weight of everyone’s stares. Conversations hushed as he walked past, their eyes glued to him. Ignoring their curiosity and judgment, he headed straight for the corner seat by the window, throwing his bag on the desk and settling in.
A few minutes later, the professor arrived, and class began. Yet, the murmuring and whispers persisted. "Did you hear what he did?" "He broke that senior’s hand!" The constant gossip grated on Phuwin's nerves. His patience was thin, and the professor’s monotonous lecture only worsened his mood.
Finally, unable to tolerate the whispers and the dreadful teaching, Phuwin stood up abruptly. The entire class turned toward him, stunned into silence.
“Professor,” he began bluntly, his voice cutting through the room. “I can’t bear this class anymore. I’m bored, so I’m excusing myself.” Without waiting for a response, he grabbed his bag and walked out, leaving the professor standing with his mouth agape.
The room remained frozen for a moment, the students processing what had just happened. The professor, clearly taken aback, cleared his throat, adjusted his glasses, and resumed his lecture, trying to regain some sense of normalcy.
Outside, Phuwin wandered through the corridors, hands in his pockets. The campus was vast, and he figured he might as well explore it since he had nothing better to do. Maybe I should find Joong, he thought. With that in mind, he strolled across different blocks, casually glancing around.
As he crossed one corridor, a strong hand suddenly grabbed his wrist and yanked him into an empty classroom. He stumbled forward, taken off guard, and looked up in shock. His eyes widened as they locked with a pair of dark, intense ones staring right back at him.
His heart thumped loudly in his chest, and for some reason, his usual bravado seemed to evaporate. Pond stood before him, holding his wrist firmly, their faces mere inches apart.
“What are you doing in the seniors' block, huh?” Pond asked, his voice low and slightly teasing. His grip on Phuwin's wrist didn’t loosen, and there was a glint of amusement in his eyes.
Phuwin swallowed, his thoughts scrambling. “Uh… I-I was just… roaming around the campus…” he managed to stammer, clearing his throat to steady himself.
Pond raised an eyebrow but didn’t let go of his wrist. “Juniors aren’t allowed here. So how come you’re here, huh?” Pond’s gaze bore into him, and Phuwin felt himself starting to shrink under that stare.
“I-I didn’t know…” Phuwin muttered, glancing at Pond’s face and then quickly looking away, unable to maintain eye contact. “I was just… looking around.”
Pond’s lips twitched into an amused smirk. “Huh? Why are you stuttering now? A few hours ago, you were roaring like a tiger in front of the whole campus. Now you’re acting like a little kitten. What happened?”
Phuwin huffed, his brow furrowing as he tried to muster his usual defiance. “T-That’s because… that bully grabbed my hand without permission. So I broke his hand!” He pouted slightly, crossing his arms, attempting to look angry. However, to Pond, he looked more like a cute kitten bristling at an imaginary enemy.
Suppressing a chuckle, Pond leaned in closer. “Oh? And what about now?” he asked softly, eyes gleaming with mischief. “I’m holding your hand too, aren’t I?” He moved his grip from Phuwin’s wrist to his waist, pulling him slightly closer.
Phuwin’s face flushed a deep red as his breath hitched. “N-No… it’s because…” He tried to find the words, but Pond’s proximity made it nearly impossible to think.
Pond smirked at his reaction. “Your dad sent you here to study, didn’t he? But do you know why you’re really here?” he continued, his voice a low whisper. Phuwin glanced up at him, confusion evident in his eyes.
“What… what do you mean?” Phuwin managed to ask, his voice small.
Pond's grip on his waist tightened slightly. "You’re here because I wanted you to be here,” he said, his voice dripping with confidence. “I’m the one who convinced your dad that this college is prestigious and perfect for you. When he came to check out the place, I made sure he’d leave impressed. You’re here because of me”
Phuwin blinked, his eyes wide and sparkling with surprise. "You… did that?" he whispered, his heart skipping a beat.
Pond nodded, his gaze never leaving Phuwin’s face. He reached up and gently touched the corner of Phuwin's eye with his thumb, sending a shiver down the latter’s spine. “These eyes,” Pond murmured, his voice softening. “These are the eyes that made me fall in love with you. The way they sparkle… it drives me crazy.”
Phuwin’s breath hitched as Pond’s words sank in. “You… love me?” he asked, his voice barely a whisper. He felt like his entire world had just been flipped upside down.
Pond chuckled lightly, his fingers brushing a strand of hair away from Phuwin’s forehead. “You really don’t remember, do you?” he whispered, his tone slightly teasing. “We went to the same high school. I was your senior there too. I watched you every day, wanting to talk to you, wanting to date you. But you, little kitten, were too much of a fool to notice.”
Pond smirked, leaning down until his face was inches from Phuwin’s, his breath warm against the younger’s skin. “and even here, you still don’t notice,” he whispered, his tone laced with amusement. His free hand came up to pinch Phuwin's nose gently. “You’re a cute little kitten, you know that?”
Phuwin’s face turned a deeper shade of red. “I… I…” he stammered, completely lost for words. He felt his heart racing in his chest, unsure of how to process everything Pond had just confessed.
Pond chuckled, watching Phuwin’s flustered state with satisfaction. “Now,” he murmured, his voice becoming serious, “why don’t you think about what I said? You’re here because I want you here. And I’m not letting you out of my sight this time.”
With that, Pond released his grip on Phuwin’s waist, stepping back slightly. Phuwin stood there, dazed, his heart pounding and his mind whirling with a storm of emotions.
