Chapter 2: A Day Out
The sun shone brightly over Seoul as the BTS members enjoyed a rare day off from their busy schedules. It was one of those rare moments when they had a full day to themselves, free from the pressures of work and the relentless pace of their careers.
Today was about enjoying each other's company, and they had decided to spend it exploring a picturesque part of the city. The atmosphere was relaxed, filled with laughter and the occasional lighthearted argument.
Jin walked closely beside Namjoon, their hands occasionally brushing against each other. Despite the casual air, there was an unspoken understanding between them—a silent acknowledgment of the bond they shared. Namjoon’s fingers would occasionally entwine with Jin’s, squeezing gently. Jin would look up at him with a soft smile, his eyes reflecting the warmth of the moment.
“Namjoon,” Jin said softly, his voice barely above a whisper, “this feels nice.”
Namjoon’s face lit up with a tender smile. “It does. I’ve missed these moments.”
As they strolled down the street, Namjoon pulled Jin closer, leaning in to place a quick kiss on his cheek. It was a fleeting gesture, but it spoke volumes. The kiss was more than just a display of affection; it was a reassurance, a promise of how much he cherished Jin.
However, their affectionate exchange did not go unnoticed. The other members were scattered around, engrossed in their own activities.
Yoongi and Jimin were in the middle of a heated debate over the best ice cream flavor from a nearby vendor.
“I’m telling you, Yoongi, mint chocolate chip is the superior flavor,” Jimin argued, holding up a cone as if it were evidence.
“Are you kidding me? Vanilla is classic,” Yoongi countered, his tone firm but amused. “And it goes with everything.”
Jimin scoffed, taking a dramatic bite of his ice cream. “Vanilla is so boring. Mint chocolate chip is unique!”
Taehyung and Jungkook, meanwhile, had found a cute puppy tied up to a lamppost on the side of the street. Taehyung’s face lit up with joy as he knelt down to pet the small, fluffy creature, and Jungkook followed suit, his eyes wide with adoration.
“Aww, look at this little guy!” Taehyung cooed, his fingers gently stroking the puppy’s fur.
Jungkook chuckled, taking a few photos with his phone. “He’s adorable. We should get a puppy for the dorm.”
Meanwhile, Hoseok was focused on his usual role—capturing memories. He had his camera out, recording moments and interactions as he always did. He kept his eyes on Namjoon and Jin, his gaze thoughtful and slightly wistful.
As Namjoon and Jin walked hand in hand, Hoseok filmed their tender moments. The way Namjoon’s fingers would gently brush against Jin’s, how Jin’s eyes would sparkle with affection—Hoseok captured it all. He wasn’t just recording for the sake of it; there was a depth of emotion in his eyes as he watched them.
At one point, Namjoon turned to Jin, his voice low and filled with warmth. “I’m really glad we’re together like this. Even if it’s just for a day, it means a lot.”
Jin’s smile widened, his heart swelling with happiness. “Me too. I wouldn’t trade these moments for anything.”
Hoseok, from behind the camera, felt a pang of sadness. He admired their relationship, the way they fit together so perfectly. It was evident how much they loved each other, and while he was happy for them, there was an ache in his chest that he couldn’t ignore.
“Hey, Hoseok! Come over here!” Jimin called out, breaking Hoseok’s reverie. “You’ve got to see this ice cream flavor Yoongi’s trying to convince me is the best.”
Hoseok nodded, turning off the camera and joining the group. He forced a smile, engaging in the playful banter with his bandmates. But even as he participated, his eyes would occasionally flick back to Namjoon and Jin, capturing their quiet moments in his mind even if he wasn’t recording them.
As the day went on, they visited a quaint market, sampled various foods, and laughed together. Namjoon and Jin’s affection for each other was apparent to everyone, but it was Hoseok who noticed every subtle detail—the way Namjoon would lean in close to whisper something to Jin, the way Jin’s eyes would soften whenever he looked at Namjoon.
In a rare moment of solitude, Hoseok stood at a small viewpoint overlooking the city. He pulled out his phone and rewatched the footage he had captured. He saw Namjoon’s loving gaze, Jin’s beaming smile, and the little gestures that spoke volumes.
Hoseok’s heart ached, but he understood. He knew that Namjoon and Jin had something special—something he would never be part of. But rather than letting his feelings consume him, he chose to cherish the moments he could witness from afar.
The day ended with a sunset that painted the sky in shades of pink and orange. The group gathered for a final picture, everyone squeezed together with smiles and laughter. Namjoon and Jin stood close, their hands linked, their love evident in the way they looked at each other.
As the camera clicked and the moment was preserved in digital memory, Hoseok felt a bittersweet satisfaction. He was part of this beautiful day, capturing memories that would last a lifetime. He watched Namjoon and Jin, allowing himself to be content in the knowledge that while he may not have been the one they loved, he was honored to witness their joy.
