Today was Friday, y/n's favourite day of the week. It was the only reason she got out of bed that morning—that and being slightly excited to see Luke.

She sat on the bus, and just as it was about to leave, four kids quickly got on. She only needed one glance at them, and she could tell they were the Rosses.

As they looked around the bus finding empty seats, Luke spotted her sitting alone. She waved to him, signalling him to sit next to her. He did and greeted her with one of his usual flirtatious grins.

"Hey there. Nice to see you so early in the morning."

"You wouldn't have if you missed the bus," y/n remarked. "Will you ever be on time?"

"Don't plan on it."

After a moment, he yawned softly, and she could see the sleep in his eyes. Which meant she wasn't surprised when he dozed off on her shoulder a few minutes later. But she didn't mind at all. In fact, she felt herself resting her head against his as a smile crept onto her face.

Halfway through school, the lunch bell sounded, and the usual hallway chaos commenced. Y/n quickly shoved all her stuff in her locker and headed to the lunch hall with her friend Bree.

"Y/n?" Bree said, turning to her.

"Yeah?"

"Would you mind if I sit at another table today? A couple of girls in Biology offered me a seat."

"No problem." Y/n smiled.

"Really? You don't mind?"

"Nope. It's alright."

"You're the best friend ever." Bree quickly hugged y/n. "I'll see you after lunch?"

"Yeah, sure. Bye." Y/n waved to her friend, and just as she turned the other way, she caught sight of another person.

"Hello again." Luke smiled. "I couldn't help but overhear that you have no one to sit with, and I'll be very willing to offer you a seat at my table."

"At you table? With all your friends?"

"Yup."

"Okay. Just don't tell them I'm your new girlfriend or something."

"Wasn't planning on it." But she could tell in Luke's eyes that he definitely was.

Y/n grabbed her lunch tray and sat in between Luke and one of his friends. As she did, she noticed questions arise on all their faces.

"As you guys are probably wondering," Luke started, addressing his friends. "This is y/n, my friend. She'll be sitting with us today, if all of you are fine with that."

"I'm cool with it, as long as she's single," said a blonde-haired boy, who playfully winked at her. "Kidding," he added once he saw Luke's expression, which looked like he was saying 'Really, dude?'

"I'm cool with it too," said a tall kid who looked like he was part of the basketball team. "I see no problem."

"Okay, great," Luke said.

"Except..." the tall kid trailed off.

"Except?" Luke asked.

"Are you forgetting what today is?"

"What is it?"

"We have runny mashed potatoes today. And it's also a Friday."

"Oh no," Luke groaned.
