The night had grown quiet, save for the distant hum of the revelry within the palace walls. Julianna, had slipped away from the dance floor under the guise of needing fresh air. Her keen senses and curiosity had guided her to the edges of the palace grounds, where moonlight painted the landscape in ethereal hues.

The glow of the moon cast a silvery sheen over the palace gardens, illuminating her path as she moved with careful precision, her mind buzzing with curiosity. The atmosphere between Xavier and Stella had been tense- almost passionate- and Julianna couldn't shake the feeling that something far deeper was unfolding beneath the surface. She wanted to know what Xavier was truly like.

She wandered through a maze of the palace grounds, her footsteps light as her instincts led her toward a hidden corner of the garden. There, concealed by a large doorway she found what she hadn't realized she'd been searching for.

Voices.

From the shadows, she saw Xavier and Duke Rafayel, their backs to her as they stood deep in conversation. The tension between them was palpable, their words laced with urgency. Julianna crouched low behind a cupboard, her breath catching in her throat as she strained to listen.

Rafayel's voice cut through the quiet with a seriousness that left no room for doubt. "The letter from Li Shen confirms all, He's willing to align himself with our cause. This changes everything. But do you truly trust him completely?"

Xavier's reply was measured but intense. ""Li Shen's support could turn the tide in our favor, but he's a dangerous ally. One wrong move, and both the east and Philos could fall into chaos. I know your concerns, Rafayel, but do not worry, he is indeed a man of Honor."

Julianna's eyes widened as she absorbed the gravity of their discussion. The name Li Shen struck a chord with her, as she had heard whispers of his formidable reputation in her own province. The notion of a potential alliance with the eastern commander was both intriguing and alarming. The pieces of the political puzzle were starting to fall into place, and she realized that the rebellion they were discussing had implications far beyond what she had initially grasped.

As the conversation continued, Julianna's mind raced. The alliance between the rebellious forces in Philos and the eastern province had the potential to reshape the balance of power in both realms. Her role as an observer was fraught with danger; if discovered, she could jeopardize not only her own safety but also the delicate plans being devised by the rebels.

Her thoughts raced as she pieced together fragments of their conversation, but before she could retreat, the soft snap of a twig beneath her feet betrayed her presence- "Shit" she thought to herself. What on earth was a twig doing in a hallway??

In an instant, both men turned toward where she was.

Rafayel's gaze narrowed sharply, his posture rigid with suspicion. "Who goes there??"

Julianna froze, her heart hammering in her chest as her mind scrambled for an excuse. "I—" she began, but the words faltered on her lips. She could feel the weight of Rafayel's piercing gaze, and a flicker of doubt crept into her mind.

"Lady Julianna," Rafayel said, his voice a low, menacing growl, "it seems you've been privy to more than you should have."

Her heart raced, her mind looking for an explanation. "Duke Rafayel, I was merely—"

Rafayel's expression hardened, his hand moving toward the hilt of his sword. "I've heard enough. You've overheard sensitive information, and that cannot be allowed to go unpunished."

Julianna's breath caught in her throat, and she took a step back, her eyes wide with fear. "Please, you don't understand—"

Before she could finish, Xavier stepped forward, his demeanor calm but firm. "Rafayel, wait."
