They walked quietly across the room and peeped through the gap of the door. On the other side of the door, there was a long hallway. Empty. Dark. Only the crimson sunset light from the windows illuminated the whole place. They crept inside the long hallway without much noise and cautiously walked down the corridor.

Suddenly, Brilliant froze in his spot. Haze, who was walking next to him, almost bumped on his shoulder when he followed his movement. Brilliant hid Dryad behind and prevented her from stepping forward.

"What's wrong?" Dryad asked, almost whispering.

"Why are you..?" Haze was about to talk but Brilliant cut him off.

"Shhh..." Brillant raised a finger and signaled for the two of them to remain quiet.

Brilliant's senses were telling him that someone was nearby. He could feel a powerful presence near. Someone or something was coming. A shiver went down his spine. Brilliant flashed a quick glance at the window. Suddenly, a pair of hands of a demon banged on the glass panes forcefully, loudly, and screamed as it tried to break the glass.
Without thinking twice, Brilliant grabbed both Dryad and Haze's hands, then sprinted out of the room, dragging them along with him.

"Quick!" Brilliant urged.

There were loud bangs as a number of demons pounded on the window repeatedly, desperately trying to break into the room. They ran as fast as they could towards the stairs, until they reached one particular hall, which had a dead end leading to a door. They bursted in through the door. Brilliant quickly slammed the door shut. They breathed heavily, looking around the darkly lit room.

"Where do you think they came from?" Haze asked as he clutched his chest while his heart raced in a mix of fear and excitement

"Where do you think they came from?" Haze asked as he clutched his chest while his heart raced in a mix of fear and excitement.

"I cannot tell," Brilliant answered. He turned his attention to Dryad, "You okay?"

Dryad nodded, breathing heavily. She clutched Lesath's grimoire under her arms.

"So now what?" Haze asked as he rubbed his arms anxiously.

Brilliant thought for a little moment before answering. He looked around the room. Try to find something that can be used to defend himself against this new threat

"Search for anything you can use as a weapon! Quick!" Brilliant said.

"Weapon?" Hazard frowned, "What are those creatures anyway?"

"They are demons. Like humans, they can kill or be killed," Brilliant answered.

"Are you planning to fight with those creatures?" Hazard asked again.

"No. But we have to defend ourselves. Just in case..." Brilliant didn't finish his sentence because he heard voices approaching from behind that door. The three of them looked at each other, their eyes filled with terror. They all knew that there might be many of these creatures waiting somewhere.
