It was a light practice day, with the upcoming tournament looming over the team's heads. Still, the atmosphere was relaxed, with the players going through their drills with an easy confidence. Laughter mixed with the occasional grunt of effort as they worked on their spikes and blocks, keeping sharp without pushing too hard. Yet, despite the lightness in the air, Satori felt anything but relaxed.
He stood at the edge of the court, pretending to focus on his warm-up, but in truth, his mind was elsewhere. Wakatoshi. Always him.
His heart raced as he watched Wakatoshi move with precision and strength, each spike landing with a force that seemed to shake the gym.Damn it
Satori tried to shake the growing heat spreading through his chest. He couldn't help it. The way Ushijima's muscles tensed with each jump, the intensity in his eyes as he surveyed the court. It wasn't just admiration anymore. No, Tendou had crossed the line from admiration to something much more dangerous, long, long ago. And that terrified him.Wakatoshi's presence had always been a source of comfort for
Satori, but currently it was also a source of chaos. His stomach fluttered every time Ushijima looked his way, and it was getting harder to hide the flush that crept up his neck whenever his gaze lingered just a little too long.He hated it. The desire was too much.
Across the court, Wakatoshi glanced over at Satori, his brow furrowing slightly. His usual energy seemed off, his movements not as sharp or erratic as they usually were. Instead, Satori appeared distracted, his red eyes occasionally darting toward Wakatoshi with an expression the ace couldn't quite read.
He wasn't one to dwell on emotions, his own or anyone else's. He was a man of action. Of focus. Yet lately, something had shifted within him. He'd always been aware of Satori. How his friend moved through the world like a whirlwind, pulling everyone into his orbit with his odd charm and unpredictable nature. But now, he noticed him in a way that made his chest tighten, a warmth spreading through him whenever he was near.
During practice, they often ended up next to each other, almost by instinct. And today, Wakatoshi found himself unconsciously gravitating toward Satori more than usual. Their shoulders brushed as they moved into position for a passing drill, and for the briefest moment, Wakatoshi hesitated before stepping away. That small, fleeting touch lingered in the back of his mind, leaving him feeling unbalanced.
"Tendou, what's up with you today? You're all over the place," Semi called out from across the court, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Tendou, snapped out of his reverie, threw his hands up dramatically.
"What ever do you mean, my precious Semi-Semi? I'm always all over the place."The team chuckled, but Shirabu wasn't letting him off that easy. "You've been staring at Ushijima like you've forgotten how to play volleyball," he said with a smirk, earning a round of laughter from the rest of the team. Satori forced a laugh, trying to shake off the awkwardness.
"Please, Shirabu. Don't be jealous just because I admire excellence."
