Chapter 5

Now that Jisoo has money to spend, she now needs to find a way to get Ella involved in this so she and her family can do all the work of talking to the event planner.

She carefully hatched a plan.

Jisoo "borrowed" a very expensive laptop and smart phone from a closed store in the neighboring city and began to execute her plan.

Wearing a "business woman" outfit and hiding her silver eyes behind dark brown contact lenses, she entered the diner during its peak hour, lunch time. The more people in the diner, the easier it'll be to get out without easily getting stopped.

Jisoo deliberately sat at a booth near the counter and set up her laptop on the table. Opening seemingly important files she downloaded earlier to make it more convincing that she's a very busy woman.

When she saw Ella walking towards her booth, Jisoo took out her phone and kept looking at her watch, making it seem like she was in a hurry, all the while "checking" her presentation.

When Ella was in earshot, Jisoo began her fake business call, "yes, I know, that's why I'm personally presenting the clients our plan, we need them to invest in this or we'll be done for"

"Hello, sorry to interrupt ma'am, are you ready to order?" Ella said with a smile

"Oh yeah, sorry for making you wait, busy work day" Jisoo replied, covering her phone, "chicken roast rice with gravy please, and 2 maple bacon cupcakes. I'm gonna need all the energy today"

"Looks like you have a busy day ahead ma'am" Ella kindly responded as she wrote down the order

"Oh very, just a very important meeting that will make or break our next company project, all in this little flash drive" Jisoo lightly tapped the USB stick that was inserted into the laptop, all in Ella's plain sight, before releasing a seemingly stressed out sigh, "I hope it goes well"

"Well, I'm sure it will ma'am" Ella said kindly, "Everything will go smoothly for you today, I can feel it. You'll do great!"

Jisoo chuckled, Jennie wasn't kidding when she said this girl was little miss sunshine, "You think so huh? Well can't argue with an optimist like you. Thanks for the encouragement."

Ella smiled brightly before excusing herself to get Jisoo's order as fast as possible

"Looks like she bought my little acting stint" Jisoo stretched and relaxed. She observed the diner and patiently waited for her meal

The diner was small but it felt home-y. The waiting staff and the owner herself happily mingled with their customers as they served them; genuinely asking about how they're doing and having simple but meaningful conversations. Not a bad way to spend a few hours out of their short pointless human lives.

Jisoo's break was cut short when she saw Ella with her meal, headed toward her booth. She quickly went back to work as Ella approached her

"Here's your meal" Ella said, placing the plate of warm home-cooked chicken rice meal

"Thank you, Let me just clear the table one sec" Jisoo replied, saving her presentation in the USB stick and putting it in a little pouch, again, all in Ella's plain sight

"Oh sorry for this but could you wrap those cupcakes to go? A text my co-workers sent made sure I won't be able to enjoy those right now"

"Of course, I'll take care of it. Enjoy your meal!"

Jisoo nodded as Ella took back the plate with the cupcakes back at their kitchen

Once Ella was out of sight, Jisoo sighed and grabbed the spoon and fork and began to eat as fast as she can. When she was done, Jisoo checked her clock. Lunch time's almost up and Ella's on her way to Jisoo's table to give her the cupcakes
