Jungkook's eyes locked onto the old photograph, his sister's smile haunting him still. He remembered the promise he made to her.
"I promise, Ji-hyun, I'll uncover the truth and make them pay," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
The photograph slipped from his fingers, floating to the floor. Jungkook's gaze snapped back to the present.
Present-Day
Jungkook adjusted his watch, his mind focused on the meeting. Ava Lee. The name echoed in his thoughts. He had chosen her for a reason.
With calculated precision, Jungkook donned his mask, concealing his true intentions. The game was about to begin.
Ava's POV - Night Before the Meeting
Ava's eyes scanned the note: "Meet me at The View, 8 pm. - Jungkook." The same name from the event. She pulled out her phone.
"Who are you? How do you know me?" Ava texted.
The response came quickly.
"Everyone knows you, Ava. Your brother Alex's reputation precedes you."
Ava's curiosity piqued.
"How did you get my number?"
The response sent shivers down her spine.
"Meet me tomorrow, and you'll learn the truth about your parents."
Meeting Day
Ava stood at the rooftop bar, The View, gazing out at the city lights. She checked her watch: 7:59 pm. A flutter in her chest.
As Jungkook emerged from the shadows, Ava's breath caught. His chiseled features, piercing eyes, and strong jawline left her spellbound.
"Would you like to grab a drink?" Jungkook asked, his smile hinting at secrets.
Ava nodded.
They sat at a cozy table, the city lights twinkling around them.
"About last night's text," Ava began, her voice steady, "what did you mean about my parents' death?"
Jungkook's expression turned somber.
"I have reason to believe it wasn't an accident. But I need your trust to proceed."
Ava's eyes narrowed.
"What's in it for you? Why are you helping me?"
Jungkook leaned in.
"Let's just say... I have a personal interest in uncovering the truth. Your parents' case is connected to something bigger."
Ava's curiosity piqued.
"What's the plan?"
Jungkook's eyes sparkled.
"We'll need to get close to the inner circle. Attend events, gather information... But we'll need a cover."
Ava's brow furrowed.
"A cover?"
Jungkook's smile hinted at mischief.
"We pretend to date. It's the perfect disguise."
Ava hesitated.
"I don't think so."
Jungkook's expression remained calm.
"Take your time. You have three days to consider. If you don't agree, I'll have to withdraw my offer."
Ava's eyes locked onto his.
"What makes you think I'll say yes?"
Jungkook leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Because, Ava, you want the truth. And I'm your only hope."
