The Raichand mansion was unusually quiet. It had been days since Atharva's failed attempt to convince Aradhya to move in with them, and the atmosphere in the house had grown tense. Atharva's frustration was like a dark cloud hanging over everyone. His staff walked on eggshells, fearful of triggering his temper. Every conversation with him seemed to be a delicate dance, with everyone afraid to say the wrong thing.
In his study, Atharva paced back and forth, his hands clenched into fists. His mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Aradhya and Aarav. The more time passed without any word from them, the more anxious he became. His mother, Akshara Raichand, had noticed the change in him. She had always known her son to be composed, even in the face of challenges, but this situation was different. Aradhya's refusal to accept help had struck a nerve in Atharva, and it was affecting him deeply.
As Atharva continued to pace, Akshara entered the room quietly. She stood in the doorway for a moment, watching her son with a gentle expression.
"Atharva," she called softly.
He stopped pacing and looked at her, his face showing signs of both frustration and worry. "I don't understand, Ma. I've tried everything. I've offered her support, a safe place for Aarav, and still... nothing. She hasn't even called or sent a message. I'm worried something's wrong."
Akshara walked over to him, placing a reassuring hand on his arm. "Beta, I know you're worried, but sometimes things aren't as simple as offering help. Aradhya is carrying the weight of her past, her pride, and her insecurities as a mother. She feels like she has to prove something to herself, and that's why she's pushing you away."
Atharva sighed heavily and ran a hand through his hair. "But it doesn't make sense. Why would she refuse help when it's right in front of her? It's Aarav who's suffering because of her stubbornness."
Akshara smiled gently, understanding the depth of his concern. "You're a good man, Atharva, and your intentions are pure. But you can't force someone to accept help if they're not ready. Sometimes, you need a different approach. That's why I think it's time I step in."
Atharva frowned, confused. "What do you mean?"
"I'll talk to her," Akshara said firmly. "Aradhya might not listen to you, but she'll listen to me. We're both mothers, and I understand her fears in a way you might not. She's afraid of appearing weak, of not being enough for her son. But she needs to hear that accepting help doesn't mean she's failed."
Atharva's eyes softened as he looked at his mother. "You really think you can convince her?"
"I do," Akshara replied with confidence. "But you need to come with me. Aradhya needs to see that you haven't given up on her."
Atharva hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, let's go. I can't just sit here and do nothing anymore."
Later that afternoon, Akshara and Atharva drove to Aradhya's apartment. As they approached the building, Atharva's frustration returned. The neighborhood was modest, but it wasn't the safest place for a young mother and her child. He couldn't help but feel a surge of anger at the thought of Aradhya and Aarav living in such conditions when they could be safe and comfortable at the Raichand mansion.
When they reached her door, Atharva knocked firmly, but there was no immediate response. He exchanged a worried glance with his mother before knocking again.
After what felt like an eternity, the door finally creaked open. Aradhya stood there, looking exhausted. Her face was pale, and dark circles under her eyes hinted at sleepless nights. Aarav clung to her leg, his usual energy noticeably absent.
"Atharva? Akshara aunty?" Aradhya's voice was soft and strained. "What are you doing here?"
"We've come to talk," Akshara said, her tone warm but firm. "May we come in?"
