When the colonel Tom Parker got Elvis Presley's parents to sign the contract with him, Gladys was completely suspicious of the colonel. The colonel promised Elvis and his parents that if they trusted him, he would give Elvis Presley deals to sign with Hollywood's contract and deals of Hollywood and music deals. The colonel appointed Vernon Presley as a business manager, and he tricked his family to sign a contract with RCA. Gladys was very suspicious and told Elvis Presley, "Elvis, don't trust this man at all; he is actually lying and wants to exploit and manipulate you." The colonel lied and said that he would give too much good material; Elvis felt completely uncomfortable. After Elvis entered the RCA, Elvis Presley was so angry and felt that he was not given a new record material and he was never allowed to write his own songs, and Elvis Presley went and confronted the colonel and said, "You have allowed me to record the same songs, and not letting me to record the same songs; do you seriously consider this a new direction? And the fact that I want to write songs, tired of all this DAMN IT, cover music, cover songs, all times, and I want to try something new." But the colonel refused to let him, saying the studios had to pay song writers, which completely upset Elvis as he wanted to record something very original, but he was never allowed to because the colonel wanted Elvis Presley to cover more songs. Elvis Presley begins very tired of cover songs, and he wanted to write and record something very original because the colonel didn't allow him to sing original songs as he wanted because money is the Colonel's thing. After Elvis Presley's debut album was released in 1956, Elvis Presley hated the cover photos of his album, believing they did not capture the essence of his album. Went to the colonel and responded angrily about the cover and said, "This cover of the album is so horrible; this is a studio album, not some damn live album." But the Colonel said to Elvis, "Well, I love this cover; it's good." In order to sell records, Elvis felt that the cover of his debut was so terrible and that the Colonel did not care about what he wanted.
