Author's Pov:
Jaipur's vibrant morning light streams through the windows of the Ahuja mansion, illuminating Kimaayra's distraught face. She clutches her phone, staring at a screen with numerous emotions gathering in them at once, but among them hurt was the most evident.
"No, this cannot happen."
"Myra, beta, what's wrong?" Her mother, Vaishnavi, who enters the room at the same time, looks at her daughter with concern etched on her face.
"Mera pehla pyaar adhura reh gaya, Maa." She wails, sprawling herself on the bed, once again seeing the news of her celebrity crush getting married.
(My first love remained incomplete, Maa.)
Kimaayra lifts her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. "How can he do this to me, Mom? I've loved him since his first movie!"
Vaishavi shakes her head, sitting beside her 22-year-old daughter. "You knew he was engaged, sweetheart. It was supposed to happen, no need to be surprised."
She tries to make her understand but Kimaayra's drama was just beginning. "I'll never find love like that. My heart is shattered. The small, small pieces are hurting..." She dramatically covers her face with her hands.
"Enough, Myra. Grow up and get used to living in the real world. You need to focus on your business studies. Remember, your last semester is starting from next week?"
Vaishavi's expression shift from amusement to gentle reprimand. She feels worried for her little girl, who loved to live more in dream world and was always kept away from the realities of life, which can be harsh at times.
At the same time, the door creaks open, and Kimaayra's grandparents, Dadi and Dada Ji, enter the room.
"What's all the commotion about?" Dadi asks, with a warm smile looking at her beautiful granddaughter.
Kimaayra sniffles, "Rudra Kapoor's wedding..."
Dada Ji chuckles. "Ah, our little drama queen. Well, there's someone special waiting for you, beta." He tells her, making her confused.
"Not now, Papa. Let us focus on Kimaayra's studies. She is always running from them." Vaishnavi intervenes, stopping them from continuing the talk.
"Tonight's dinner with the Raichands will be lovely. You have known them since forever, and Vinayak is your best friend, after all. Are you excited?" Her grandfather reminds her, with a hint of anticipation in his tone.
Kimaayra's expression softens. She adored Vinayak, even if he was annoying at times and the Raichands were like family. Not everyone though but she didn't wanted to go there. So, the dinner could be fun, she concludes in her head.
Rahul Ahuja, Kimaayra's father, enters the room with smile on his face. "Yes, beta, we have been friends with the Raichands for decades. Tonight's meeting will be a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bonding." He adds, continuing from where his father left.
