TUESDAY

"Team leaders will be decided on Friday." Asami-sensei informed, "Today we'll be doing some basic training."

"No cursed energy for now." Yaga continued, "You can't always count on your cursed techniques and you won't always be fighting cursed spirits..."

I felt a nudge from my left. Hakaru was leaning towards me, hand covering his mouth as he whispered in my ear like some kind of devil, "Wanna fight?"

I looked at him, no longer paying attention to the two teachers explaining today's training session. His eyes held a glint of mischief as he smiled playfully. He was serious about that request even though his expression didn't show it.

I've fought each of my senpai's only once. Even though they both belong in big clans, at the time they didn't know any better than a regular second grade sorcerer, yet managed to make me cautious. As of now, they're fighting to be recognized as first graders, something I am quite sure they'll succeed in. After all they've grown a lot the past year and they aren't to be taken lightly whatsoever.

So I whispered back, eyes locked on his side profile, "Not scared anymore?"

He chuckled as he turned to look at me, "Who said I wasn't?" He tilted his head to the left, in slight provocation. There was a sudden pause as we stared each other off, tension so thick I could cut it with my blade."But it's just a spar, no cursed energy involved."

I hummed, it was actually a fair fight. In terms of pure strength he had a clear advantage over me. Hakaru was a Kamo heir, he had probably gone through many of the things I had. He was a member of the big three and he didn't specialise in any kind of weapon or cursed tool like me, apart from what his blood technique enabled him to do, which was actually a lot. He, instead, had focused more on hand to hand combat, so this type of training the teachers were going for was his expertise.

"Sure." I said. Why not. I liked playing with my chances.

Then I felt the familiar burning stare of Asami-sensei. So I turned my attention back to what the teachers were saying.
