I looked at my reflection in the mirror, fiddling with my earrings. I'd gotten them just last Christmas from my best friend Rose. I looked closely at my makeup, making sure that it all looked good. I turned a little; making sure my outfit matched it. I was wearing a red dress, tight at the top and loose as it got lower. Not too short and not too long.

Happy, I picked up my small black purse and switched off the light, closely the door behind me. I hopped in my car and turned the engine on, sighing as the radio began to play. I quickly tuned into HeadTunes; listening to the music the technology had scanned my thoughts for. As usual, it was really old pop-punk stuff from the 2000s. People thought I was weird for listening to such old stuff, but I didn't care. I loved it.

The streets were crowded, hover-cars everywhere. I looked at my purse, the time, date and temperature displayed on a little screen on the side. It was 6:20pm. Shit, I was probably going to be late. My fiancé had asked me to meet him at the fanciest restaurant in the city if I really wanted to marry him. I quickly pulled into a parking spot and hurried up the footpath to The Elegance, where I would tell my future husband that I wanted to be with him forever.

As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was bombarded by staff.
"Are you Miss. Booni?" a balding man in a suit asked.
"Yes." I replied nervously, and he beamed.
"Right this way." he said, leading me away from the door and his coworkers. My eyes widened in amazement as we reached our destination.

We were on the top floor, a big room with walls covered completely in large windows. I looked around in amazement and I gasped when I saw him. My fiancé was sitting at a table in a secluded area. Leading to it were rose petals and candles. Playing softly was an old band that went by the name of Panic! At The Disco. He was beaming, looking at me. He stood up and walked down the isle of rose petals, and when he reached me he kissed my hand.
"M'lady, this is all for you." he said, grabbing my hand and leading me to the table.

"Ben, you really didn't have to do all this!" I exclaimed.
"Yes I did, my darling. I just love you too much. I couldn't help it." he smiled. I blushed and looked into his eyes. This was the man I fell in love with four years ago.
"Ben, I love you. I want to be with you forever. I will be your wife." I said, causing him to smile even wilder. He stood up and lifted me out of my chair, twirling me around in the air. When he stopped, our lips met and I'd never felt more content in my life.

As we ate, I couldn't help but look around at the other people on this floor. The rich people who I'd never had much to do with. In one corner the female Channel Ten news reporter sat, talking to the weather lady. They looked like more than friends. I continued to look around and my eyes stopped at a man. He looked nervous and suspicious, sitting alone and glancing at the elevator every ten seconds. He also looked familiar.

I nudged Ben, pointing at the man.
"He looks a lot like your brother." I whispered, although I didn't know why.
"Well, of course he does! He is my brother!" he said happily and stood up.
"He looks a bit-" I began, but Ben wasn't listening.
"John!" Ben called, waving at his brother. John looked up in alarm but saw it was Ben and relaxed.

That was when the elevator door opened. Three police officers came bursting out, heading straight for John. Ben saw this and rushed forward, getting ready to defend his brother. I watched as the police officers shoved John to the floor and dug something out of his pocket. As this happened, Ben cried out in outrage and ran forward.

He began to pull at whatever the police officers wanted. I cried out and ran over to him, grabbing hold of his left arm. As I did this, Ben managed to win the fight for the object. However, he stumbled backwards with it, taking me with him. As he hit the floor, the object in his hand shattered. I was still holding onto Ben's arm at the time. I felt time stop for a second, and a blinding light flashed.

I squinted my eyes as the light faded. I looked around at the room. Everything seemed weirdly frozen. I looked over at Ben, who had gotten up off of the floor. I walked over to a waiter and studied him. He wasn't moving. No one was, except for Ben and I.
"Ben, what was that thing?" I asked, referring to the object.
"It had the ability to change time. Now it's broken. I think the universe is broken too." he whispered and I gasped.

"Ben, is there any way to fix it?"
"No."

A/N:
Hey! So I got the idea for this from an episode of Matt Groening's Futurama, so it's not exactly an original storyline I guess. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
((also, I have trouble sticking to stories so I apologise in advance))
