"How'd you do it?" He suddenly says, his gaze burning into the side of my face. Turning to look at him, I reply. Having a feeling I know exactly what he means.
"Do what?"
"Leave. Ignore a fully sealed mate bond, like it was nothing. Keep a Luna bond stable and in tact without being here or anything. How did you do it, remove the mate bond, mark and all, but the the pack is settled as though a Luna is present? How?" He asks his gaze intensifying.
"I didn't remove it." I tell him. "It's impossible to do that even rejecting someone can't take it away. If you live through rejection when you see them you'll still yearn for them, want them, and feel guilty and crap as hell. You can't remove a mate bond. But with a little skilled use of magic, you can manipulate it."
"Manipulate it? And you did remove it, the mark is gone, on you and me."
"It's not gone. It's still there it's just invisible to the naked eye."
"But, I don't even get the usual mate feelings by being here. Standing next to you. I want to be with you because I know your my mate, but I don't feel the need to. Its all mental, no longer physical. I touch you," Jason grabs my hand, "and I feel nothing. No mate bond. I feel almost empty without it. I don't feel emotions like I used to. It's like that part of me, the loving part is gone. I still care, but, I don't..." He trails off.
"Love." I finish for him. "For every spell there is a consequence. A down side. This is just it, the consequence."
"And the Luna effect?" He asks.
"I can't really explain it. It's best if I show you."
"Show me?"
"Yes. Show you. Do I have to keep repeating what I say to you? Cause that's going get real annoying, real quick." He shook his head, a no. Thank god. Cause I wasn't going to repeat it anyway.
I look up at the moon then back down to him. My irises now glowing a prominent purple. The same colour as my wolf's eyes, only a tad lighter and brighter. My wolves eyes don't quite glow like this. He widens his eyes slightly, shocked that I'd show him this side of me. The side I show no one. The side I don't like people knowing of. My witches side.
Yes, that's right I'm not just a wolf, I'm part witch too. Among other things.
I quietly mutter the incantation under breath. I know he can hear it though. He can hear every word loud and clear, even if he doesn't understand it. Only a witch could understand the language I just spoke.
My irises glow brighter. Impossibly brighter. I close my eyes and wait. I can feel it. Feel the magic working, I don't have to open my eyes to see it. My witch senses are strong enough that I don't have to physically see what's happening to see it. It may sound confusing, but I have no other way to describe it.
A bright purple ring of glowing magic appears at the root of my hair. Around a lock of my chocolate brown hair. The ring of purple light slowly travels down the lock of hair. Leaving behind strands of black and white hair that appears to have been wrapped around my own. The ring of light disappears as it reaches the bottom of my hair.
I open my eyes to find Jason's deep blue ones staring into mine. His focus flickering between holding my gaze and staring at my lock of hair. His confusion noticeable. He doesn't know what he's looking at.
"Umm, so that... Is what makes....the Luna effect?" He says, unsure of himself, the statement sounding more of a question than anything else. A small smile graces my lips.
"Yes, in a way yes." I reply.
"Okay. So, what exactly is it?" He straight out asks. Causing me to chuckle.
