The Awakening of
the Child

❝Mama! Mama!❞

DEEP IN A DARK cave, there was a stone that was cracked into half and a little creature crawled out of it. Pretty golden eyes opened, seeing the faint sunlight that seeped into the cave through the entrance.

Six sensitive ears twitched upon hearing the sounds outside the dark cave. Your tail wiggled lift and right as curiosity peeped in your head, you wanted to see what was outside this darkness. So and without wasting time, you got on your hands and knees, crawling carefully toward the exit. Once outside, your snow-white fur basked in the sun. You sat down for a moment and looked around with widen curious eyes.

Everything around you was green, it was like a big forest. Your nose twitched slightly, catching variety of scents like the fruits, the trees, the grass, the flowers. Everything around you was new and made you want to explore. Suddenly, some rustling in the bushes earned your attention. You tilted your head to the side in puzzle, blinking a few times. Only one word erupted from your small lips.

"Mama?"

Suddenly, a little monkey jumped out of the bush and its eyes landed on you, making its way to you. A giggle left your lips as the monkey sniffed you, "Kya!" You squealed and grabbed the monkey in a crushing hug which made it screech in surprise. Thankfully, the monkey managed to free itself from your iron grasp and run into the top of a tree to be safe from you. You laughed again and went to chase after it, but something else got your attention. You could hear sounds of footsteps not too far away from you.

The monkey yelled again when you suddenly disappeared from your spot. It was clear that you weren't any ordinary simian.

Somewhere else in the Flower Fruit Mountain, a dark furried monkey had been walking around to pass time. The Six-Eared Macaque- that was his name- grumbled in boredom.

After the recent battle with Azure Lion and his attempt to be the next Jade Emperor which almost destroyed the world, Macaque had been living in the mountain with his ex-best friend for days now. However, he didn't really find anything important to do other than sleep and eat fruits.

Macaque: "Ugh, it seems I got used to living in the dojo."

He grumbled while walking, his arms crossed. Just then, he felt a sudden weight on his tail follow by a... giggle? His head turned around and his eyes widened when he saw a baby monkey that wasn't like the regular monkeys around here. You looked up at him and giggled again, letting go of his tail and making grabby hands. Macaque tilted his head to the side in confusion before wrapping his tail around your little body.

He lifted you up, making your arms and legs dangle in the air. Upon closer inspection, he noticed the six ears you had, the red marking on your face, and your white fur.

Macaque: "Well, isn't this interesting. I thought only me and Wukong were like this."

"Mama!" You exclaimed and reached your hands to touch his face. Meanwhile, Macaque's eyes widened upon hearing what you had just said. He quickly moved you away from his face with his tail.

Macaque: "Uh... Nope, wrong address, kiddo. I'm not your mother."

"Mama!"

Macaque: "Hey, stop it..." He suddenly stopped himself and facepalmed, "I'm talking to a baby." He then lowered you down and shooed you away, "Now go and find your mom somewhere else."

With that being said, he turned around and proceeded to walk. You sadly looked at him and pouted before deciding to follow after him, "Mama." You called out as you tried your best to crawl fast, but he was walking fast. When you knew it was hopeless, you sat down and let out a sob, tears welling up in your eyes before you let out a loud wail. Macaque froze when he heard you cry loudly then turned around to see you sitting there and weeping.

For some reason, something tugged on his heart strings. It was as if he wanted to scoop you up in his arms and hug you tightly. Why was he feeling like this? It wasn't like he knew you or anything. He tried to ignore it and continue with his way, but it was getting difficult with your loud and desperate cries. A sigh left his lips and he went you, picking you up in his arms.

Macaque: "Alright, stop crying now. I will take you with me."

You clung into him and nuzzled your face in his chest, your cries subsided to sniffles. He didn't know why, but he felt like he should keep you with him... like he must protect you. It was a strange urge for him, but he decided not to question it. Maybe one day he will tell Wukong about your existence, but for now he had to get you something to eat first.

After a few minutes, Macaque sat down under a tree with you on his lap. You were nibbling on a small piece of peach to fill your empty tummy. However, Macaque could see how messy of an eater you're.

Macaque: "Hmm, you probably need a name. What should I name you?"

The dark furried monkey crossed his arms and hummed in thought, thinking of a good name for you.

Macaque: "How about... Y/N?"

You blinked a few times and looked at him before giggling in delight as if saying that you liked the name.

Macaque: "I will take that as a yes then."

And just like that, you will be stuck with Macaque for god knows how long. Still, you were glad that you now had a guardian to keep you safe. Unbeknownst to you and him that this was going to be the beginning of the chaos.
