SEVEN
The heart of Adelina Oliveria stopped the second that she saw a car hit the wall at speed, her eyes widening, fear flooding her body.
Her hands shook slightly as she watched, waited, and prayed for him to be okay, turning her body around when she felt a hand rest on her shoulder.
"He'll be okay, little one."
Fred Vasseur spoke as he reassured the woman, lightly squeezing her shoulder with his hand in order to give her comfort, a soft smile upon his face.
"He hit it with speed, though. Are you sure?" Adelina responded, lightly chewing on her bottom lip from the nerves, seeking advice and reassurance from the man who she knew very well.
"I have seen hundreds of crashes in my time. He'll have bruises and some ego issues, that's all, trust me." The Vasseur man comforted the Portuguese girl, giving her a small hug so that she would feel better after seeing a crash of one of her closest friends.
The wrecked car was soon removed from track, with the driver returning to the pit lane in order to sit in his garage, barely injured, just a little bit sore.
Adelina couldn't help but find herself sprinting down the pit lane towards him, knowing that she would be reprimanded for it, but she just had to check on him.
She had to.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" The young woman released a gasp at the sight of him, crouching down in front of him in order to check him for injuries, needing to see for her own eyes.
"I'm okay. I'm just annoyed with myself, I was so close to points."
Pierre Gasly reassured her with a soft voice, his face full of sunrise but relief too, happy to see her and that she still cared about him. He had missed her.
"You worried me." The Oliveira girl released a deep sigh of relief, her eyes closing momentarily, opening them to see the Gasly man staring straight at her, causing her to grumble.
"I'm still mad at you. You had no right to use my father against me, but I don't like seeing you hurt. I don't like seeing you crash." Adelina glared lightly at the French man, seeing him nodding his head up and down a couple of times.
"I understand... I am so sorry for that, I just want things to go back to normal. Back to how things were between us, I've missed you. I've missed getting ice cream with you, I've missed screaming songs in the car with you in the middle of the night, I've missed having movie nights with you where all you do is ask questions, I've missed your smile, I've missed your laughter and the way that you make me happy. I've missed doing stupid things with you, I've missed you laughing at me when I fall off my surf board. I've missed you."
Pierre barely took a breath, inhaling deeply as soon as he was finished, a sad yet guilty look upon his face, having known that what he did and said was wrong and that he was out of line.
He regretted it so much.
"It'll take some time for things to go back to how they were, I can't just get over that within a couple of weeks." Adelina moved her body forwards, giving him a small hug, her arms wrapping around his body. "But I'm glad that you're okay."
Pierre watched on as his best friend left his garage, sprinting to the one next door that was Yuki's, his eyes closing, his head deliberately slamming against the wall behind him.
"That's better than nothing."
